Pranita :
Almost fainting, we reached the top of the hill. The view was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. The snowy peaks we saw earlier were now right in front of us. The snow on them was white and fresh. I just felt like jumping that few meters gap in between and reaching there. Everyone of us got equally excited and comments like 'worth it' were heard. I sat there leaning on a rock, looking starstruck at those magnificent white beauties.
You know, sometimes words are not useful to convey your feelings and at that time our feelings flow through our eyes. Something like that happened to me. My eyes got filled and tears started rolling down my face. Never before had I experienced such situation. I looked here and there and wiped my tears confirming that no one had seen me. After some time we made our ways to our tents. The later time of the day went very quickly. Photographing, playing, sleeping and moaning about body pains.
It was night, everyone went to sleep. I was still in the earlier zone. Unable to control myself, I went out to see the white beauties. The weather was freezing outside. I saw the stary sky above and moonlight sprinkled snow peaks beneath. What a satisfaction it was!Suddenly I heard a mild flute sound from behind. I noticed a human figure sitting on the rocks in front. It was someone from our group for sure. I saw our logo on its t-shirt.
"Ummm.. Who's there? "I asked.
"Prani, it's me.. Varun" the figure responded.
"oh.. I didn't know you can play flute too.. "I said sitting beside him."unable to sleep?"
"Yeah. actually... Actually I am.. I am worried." he replied."you might not be knowing but today.. Today Sid had locked himself in for few hours. He got a message from his girlfriend saying she is done with him. When he locked himself I heard him screaming and sobbing. Today I saw.." he took a deep breath "I saw two month earlier myself in him. Shouting and crying for... Her. I just can't stop thinking about that."
"oh varun.. Why don't you guys understand that crying over something that does not even think about you makes no sense!! Crying continuously makes man weaker. It just makes us realize our fault."
"shall I ask you a thing? .. Then why did you cry earlier, when we reached on top?"he said.
So he had seen me... Why? See because of such questions I didn't want to be seen.
"varun.. Sometimes there are some situations in which the work of our mouth is done by our eyes. Today was one of them. After climbing for hours and hours the result we got was something I never expected. I think this was called success."I replied, now looking in front. "I cried.. I cried because I remembered my grandma's words. Before coming to trek she told me that I was very lucky to be able to experience this. Grandma herself wanted to be a trekker. But it was not possible that time and so she asked me to be grateful. Be grateful for such opportunities and finally for LIFE."
"listen varun" I said now taking his hands in mine to console him. "I think, rather than being sorry for not having someone you like in your life you should be grateful for having people who love you in your life. So please.. Please think about us and enjoy your life. Don't be tensed cause you don't look good that way. You have a great fighting spirit." I know he was looking at me. But I on the other hand was looking at the citylights in front."you really are one of a kind. I would love to be able to think like you." he said finally.
"yea. I too would love to have a spirit like you" I said looking at him.
We both looked at each other. Really our eyes were speaking. There was a different kind of feeling in the atmosphere. Gentle wind flowing, beneath the stars, in front of the peaks we were there.. Just the two of us with his hand still in mine. It was perfect! When suddenly we heard rustling of leaves behind.
"goodnight varun" I said getting up. And I went inside..
