Incomplete

The Answer

Pranita:

Radha was asking about my feelings for Varun.. Varun was shifting closer to me assuming the answer in his favor.. Our favor..

My heart was beating fast. If I confessed my feelings for Varun, Radha would be shattered. But.. But if I didn't, Varun will be truly hurt and upset. God! What do I do!

"answer me Prani!" Radha said finally.

"no.." I responded suddenly "no.. I like Varun, but as a friend and that's it! We have nothing going on between us!" I said in a sudden flow.

Everyone stood there starstruck. Radha gave a sigh of relief. Varun, who was closer to me, shifted a little to the other side and after some time left the place. Meera and Sid had no reaction on their face.

After a brief moment, Radha said," I knew that there would be nothing! Like, you and Varun.. That would be so odd. Right Meera?". But by seeing no reaction on Meera's face Radha changed the topic. "but.. But why did Varun leave?"

Why did Varun leave..? I knew the answer to that question. I ruined his slightest hope ...slightest hope of getting back into a relationship, getting back to the one he loves..to the one we love.

"I guess Sid and I will leave, he has to buy something" Meera said to avoid the awkward silence and they both left.

I and Radha started walking towards the park. I didn't want to talk. I was.. I was confused. Confused about whether I should be happy or sad for crushing Varun's last hope.

"earlier today.. I saw you dashing through Varun and Sid's room. And so I thought you had a thing with Varun. Sorry babe." Radha said guiltily.

"no.. No that's okay Radha." I replied. "but trust me Varun is a great guy and hearing that you like him too is..."

"too?"

"oh! I mean, that you like him is really very... Surprising and... Nice." I tried to cover up.

"yea.. He really takes care of everyone and on top of that respects everyone." Radha added "the cherry on the cake is his smile. The way he smiles makes you forget every worry, everything for a moment."

I remembered his smile, the way he used to blush when I teased him.. The way he used to say a lot just by his smiles. All those moments we laughed together but..but they were gone, and were never coming back now.

"Heyy Prani! Where is your attention?" Radha called.

"oh sorry.. " I reacted." by the way Radha, why did you think that I had a thing with Varun?"

"um.. There are a lot of incidences,Prani. For example, when you rushed out of the room today, Varun was standing in his room shocked. He was crying and had some hope and satisfaction in his eyes. Something that he was so satisfied to have.." Radha said.

Really! Yes! I did thought that he would react like that but.. Actually seeing him was unusual.

"and remember that day, at the dinner when everyone were teasing you both and you left the tent. He got so upset and ran behind you like he cared about nothing but you." Radha said, now her tone was shifting towards accusation. She was looking at me and expecting a shocked reply. I didn't had any.

All these things Radha had said were somewhere expected by me. But I really didn't think that he would react. Or I didn't want him to react.

"you know, earlier Varun used to talk. Talk mostly about you" Radha said. I looked at her at once. "but now a days he doesn't even say a word. Doesn't even react to anything happening around."

So Radha had noticed all this. For a second I thought that she knew Varun and I had a past but she was not able to digest that fact and so was pretending to know nothing.

"Pranita!" Radha said with a certain kind of harshness and accusation."I want Varun to talk to me. Talk about me. I want him to spend his time with me whole heartedly. I want.. I want him to look at me just the way... Just the way he looks at you!" Radha shouted.

Radha was madly and really madly in love with him. She was now fighting with me for having Varun. I was agitated and didn't knew what to do. I was furious that Radha, the one for whom I had sacrificed my love, my Varun,was now demanding me to follow her! No! That won't happen. But... But she is my best friend and had done all this for her. She is upset now. She isn't really like that. She will be back to normal after some time. And then I will talk to her.

"what the hell are you saying Radha!" I reacted shocked." you are crossing your limits now, I have already told you there's nothing between us now!"

Today, I had seen a different side of Radha. A side I never wanted to see.

I don't know whether I will support her anymore.
