"If this room were burning
I wouldn't even notice
'Cause you've been taking up my mind
With your little white lies...."~
*Marcella's POV, March 23rd, Shooting Dance Moms Elite At Abby Lee's Dance Company*
"YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG, HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU TO STRAIGHTEN YOUR FEET ON THAT 540 BATTEMENT EN ROND!? YOU'RE 19, MARCELLA! I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO TELL YOU THIS!"I stare dowm at the floorboards. Abby's screaming at me again for affect.
I know I landed that 540 Battement En Rond perfectly and she knows it too. I understand she's trying to play it up for the cameras, pretty much all the drama on here is fake. I put on my best worried/concerned face and nod my head as she gives me this bit of 'criticism'.
We have to act for the cameras. That's what reality television is all about: entertainment.
I begin my routine again and do the exact same thing, Abby then praises me, saying I did, 'Much better'.
"CUT!!!!" ,The directer screams.
Thank God, finally a break, we've been filming since 5:00am.
I pick up my water bottle, and head to the benches. I find a seat beside Jordan (My teammate) as she talks to Ashley. (My other teammate, lol)
I'm not really the one to 'butt in' on conversations, so I just sit and listen.
I just don't feel comfortable speaking up anymore; especially, with what Abby said about them.
I'm not special, I just practice a bunch.
They have other activities they attend to sometimes. So they don't exactly put their all into dance. Like Jordan has been going to cattle calls recently. (She wants to be an actor) Winter has been hanging out with friends and partying. (as always)
Sierre has been taking multiple lessons lately such as: singing, dancing, and....yoga.?? So, I'm not exactly sure what she's trying to do....
I think the reason they're all focusing on other things is because we all know our time is coming to an end soon...Our contract ends in a few short months, then after that...what's left? Nothing is guaranteed?
And Ashley..... Well, Ashley works just as hard as me, to be honest. She wants to become a professional dancer, like I do.
She's actually the only one on our team who was a student at Abby Lee's Dance Company before joining EDT (Elite Dance Team) She was the prized pupil, and Abby tutored her one-on-one for an hour or so a week. That's a HUGE deal considering how busy Abby always is.. Well, EDT formed, and Ashley started acting weird. She start showing up to competitions at the last minute, talking back to Abby, etc.
I guess she just started to think she was untouchable... I don't know.Weird thing is, even after all the rehearsals she missed, she nailed the solos at the competitions. She always ended up first.
At the same time, she dragged down our group dances because she was never there to lead. Someone had to step up and take the lead, so I did. And let me tell you, that was not easy. I shy away from the spotlight, like, pretty much 24/7.
For some weird reason though, I flourished. (Which is hard to believe because I was super stressed out) I stepped out from the shadows and started to take the lead.
I became an amazingly better dancer than before, and led our team to #1 all across the world. Abby started to notice and began coaching me one-on-one. Eventually, I became the best dancer on our team.
I think about a year in, Ashley started to notice, because she immediately got her act together. She attended every rehearsal, stopped partying and hanging out with friends all the time, and instead threw herself into dance again.
I think at this point it was too late, because Abby was done with her.... Off with the new toy, on to the next.
That's the thing about Abby that scares me, in one second she can toss you away as if you are nothing.
That's why I'm always careful how I act around Abby. She's a loose cannon.
I'd actually say Ashley and me are probably tied In skill level. I think I just have more likability. She's never quite been the same...
Another effect of Abby's statements on my life is: Paparazzi.
I guess it would be kind of cool to have paparazzi follow you around....... IF THEY WEREN'T THE ANNOYING ONES WHO ARE JUST TRYING TO TAKE EMBARRASSING PHOTOGRAPHS OF YOU. I mean, they shout stupid stuff at me like, "Marcella! Marcella! Are you dating Justin Bieber??? No?? What about Zac Efron??!!"
And then they just list a bunch of famous people. One time, one dude asked me if I was dating Harry Styles. I almost spit out the strawberry Cappuccino I had just bought. Hah! Me? Dating Harry Styles?First of all, I don't like him. Second of all, my friend Alexandra would MURDER me. You know, the one from when I was a kid? The one who asked me if I wanted to be in a twisted Cinderella play where she murders her family? Yeah, that one. Believe it or not, she's was a HUGE One Direction fan when we were growing up. Harry Styles was her obsession, and, I kid you not, when he cut his hair for Dunkirk, she cried.
Hahhaaha, happy days. I was like, "I know you love this man you've never met but, dude, chill!" Okay, I can see a little bit how he'd be attractive. I had a little crush on him at one point too, but I wouldn't cry about him or anything. I'm indifferent, I don't care one way or another.
"Abby wants you at her office in ten, she's finishing up a phone call." A set instructor's voice jerks me from my thoughts. "Oh, yeah, um....sure." This is.....strange.....
