"Please fasten your seatbelts. We will now begin our descent into London City International Airport."
YES!! It's finally happening! I, Lucy Bradford, am going to London!! This feels like a dream.
I buckle up my seatbelt, unable to keep this ridiculous smile off my face. I've been waiting so long for this.
Ever since I was 15 I've wanted to go to London. I told myself that when I finished school and turned 18, I would get my passport and go. Of course, they kept screwing up my information. But finally, after 10 months of waiting, I'm finally here!
I look out the window to see buildings getting clearer, the ground coming closer. I see the runway, and before I know it, we've touched down. The plane slows down and, after what feels like forever, we stop.
"You may now unbuckle your seatbelts and leave the plane. Thank you for using US Airways. We hope you enjoyed your flight."
I grab my carry-ons, and run off the plane. This is it!! I'm finally here, in London, England!
I run off the plane and into the lobby so I can collect my suitcases. When I see them, I run up and grab them so I can go. All these people are smiling at me and welcoming me. I already love it here!
I go through the security scanner, along with my luggage, and I was off to my car. I already had everything booked, so I was all set.
I put my suitcases into the back of the car and jumped into the back seat. "Good morning, ma'am," the driver greeted me, with a strong British accent. "I'm Andrew, and I'll be driving you today."
I smiled at him. "Good morning, Andrew. I'm Lucy."
He smiled back and we drove away from the airport, on the way to my hotel. I still can't believe I'm here! It seems so surreal. I look out the window, watching cars go by.
"So, Lucy, what do you plan to do while you're here?" The driver asks, politely.
"I don't know really, I just want to enjoy it here. You know, just walk around a bit."
"Well, we're here. I hope you have a great time here, Lucy."
"Thank you!" I make sure to give him a good tip. He was nice.
I get my suitcases out of the back and wave at him as he drives off. Then, I turn around and look at the hotel. Wow... It's breathtaking. This is so cool!
I walk up to the receptionist and she smiles at me. "Good morning, miss. How can I help you?"
"Hi, I have a room booked here?"
"Name, please?"
"Lucy Bradford."
"May I see some ID?"
I dig for it, finally pulling it out and handing it to her. She types on her computer for a bit, then she gets a key for me and smiles.
"You will be in room 304. Here's your key. Enjoy your stay here!"
I take the key and smile. "Thank you, have a great day!"
I'm pick up all my luggage and run to the elevator. No, Lucy, you're in London now, and here it's called a "lift."
Once I was in, I push floor 3, and the doors close. I realize that I'm still smiling like a 5 year old, but I honestly can't stop. This is just so exciting!
Once I was on my floor, I go into my room. It's beautiful! Like a dream... I throw all my suitcases on the floor, jump on the bed, and squeal. This is going to be so great!
