(Y/n)'s POV

~The next day~

I had sent Lulu back to the forest, still wondering how she knew I was in trouble. But it wasn't like I was in serious danger.

Suddenly, a strange mark appeared on my hand. It was (f/c) but looked a little suspicious. What was this? Did this have something to do with what happened yesterday?

"Hey (Y/n), the princess wants you to come out," exclaimed Soo Ho.

I noticed him look down at my covered hand. I quickly pushed him outside before he could ask any questions that I couldn't answer.

"(Y/n), you're supposed to be training these men. Don't tell me you're too depressed about your loss yesterday..." Sook Myung started.
"Don't speak as if you know everything."
"Then why? Why are you staying in your room?"
"Mind your own business. But why do you want me to train them if you're just going to complain?"
"It's your job, regardless of whether I complain or not."

She eyed me before taking her leave with Wi Hwa. He was drinking, as usual and took no interest in the tension between the princess and myself.

"Okay everyone, get your swords."

They all groaned, making me glare at them.

"Is there something wrong, gentlemen?"
"It's just that...your swordplay is different from anything we've seen and it's difficult to get a hang of it," exclaimed Sun Woo.
"And that's why you train."
"Now that I think of it, Ji Dwi's swordplay is similar to that used in the royal family," Soo Ho pointed out.
"A-ah, you see, I taught myself," Ji Dwi replied a little nervously.
"You taught yourself royal swordplay?" asked Yeo Wool.
"Not royal swordplay, just teaching myself how to use a sword."
"Are you gonna train or what? Quit chatting and go."
"Y-yes ma'am!"

~Some time later~

Everyone had gone back to their rooms to rest, but I had snuck outside and went to the forest.

I had tried to call Lulu but she didn't come no matter how much I tried. Lulu, where were you? I wanted to ask you about yesterday...

"Why are you here?"

I quickly turned around and came face to face with the queen.

"I came to see Lulu, your highness."
"She isn't here."
"Why not?"
"I have captured her and she is now kept in the palace's underground chambers."
"W-what? Why would you..."
"Don't worry, it's nothing personal."

She gestured for her guard to come forward, before grabbing the same paper and pen from yesterday.

"May I ask what that is, your highness?"
"It is nothing you should worry yourself with."

The queen took the pen and began to write something down. I was still confused on why she did this, but all that confusion soon turned into pain and worry.

I screamed out as it felt like my heart was being squeezed. It felt like my head was going to explode. This pain was something that I couldn't handle...

Ji Dwi's POV

"Hey Sun Woo, have you seen (Y/n) anywhere?"
"No, why? Are you two going on a date?"
"*slight blush* Y-yah, don't make up weird scenarios."

He just grinned before leaving. Maybe she went to the forest. I could tell that she was curious about what happened yesterday.

When I got there, I heard a sudden scream. (Y/n)?! I immediately ran in the direction her scream had come from without a second thought.

(Y/n) was on the ground, barely able to move while mother held a sword to her throat. Before it made contact with her neck, I deflected it with my sword.

"What do you think you're doing?!" she asked, clearly annoyed.
"Mother, what do you think you're doing? She has done nothing wrong. Do you really intend to end her life because of some stupid prophecy?!"
"Sammaekjong! Why are you revealing your identity to her?! That just gives me more reasons to kill her."
"Mother, my name is king Jinheung. If you ever try to kill (Y/n) again, I won't hesitate to stop you."
"How dare you!"

I picked (Y/n) up and walked away, ignoring mother's yells behind me. (Y/n)'s breathing was shallow and weak but she was still awake. Well, at least trying to stay awake.

"Get some rest, I'll tell Ah Ro to give you some medicine."
"Ji Dwi..."

She closed her eyes and seemed to fall unconscious.

~Evening~

Ah Ro had given (Y/n) something to help with the pain but she still hadn't woken up. I was holding her hand, afraid that if I let go, she would go away forever.

"Oi Ji Dwi, how long are you going to stay here? Come out and eat something," exclaimed Sun Woo.
"I'm fine, I have no appetite."
"You're supposed to eat at times like this."
"Do you think I can eat while knowing that she's in this state?!"

Suddenly, I heard a sneeze and noticed that (Y/n) had woken up, but she still looked very pale.

"Sorry, did I wake you?"

She just smiled and shook her head. Sun Woo quietly left, leaving me alone with her.
She slowly sat up and stared at her hands.

"So you're the king..." she started.
"Yeah..."
"What are you planning to do now that I know...your highness?"
"Yah, stop joking around. You're still recovering...what did mother do to you?"
"I'm not sure-"

Before she could finish her sentence, she winced in pain. A bright light surrounded us and it seemed as if the source of it was from a strange mark on her hand.

I reached out to touch her but my hand was starting to get burnt. What was happening to her?
