(Y/n)'s POV

~The next day~

In the end, the festival turned out to be a success. Hansung had set up a stall that sold different types of tea and had earned the most savings. Ji Dwi and I didn't bother at all.

"Hey (Y/n), I'm sorry but I have to go back to the palace," exclaimed Ji Dwi.
"Oh, that's fine."

He left with one of the palace guards. Now I had nothing to do. Where was everyone? They all seemed to have disappeared somewhere after the festival ended.

"(Y/n), come on!" Soo Ho yelled before dragging me away.
"Y-yah, where are we going?"
"To spy on Ban Ryu and Soo Yeon."
"W-what?"

He quickly pulled me back before we got spotted by the two. They seemed happy together with all the holding hands and stuff.

It sure was surprising to see Ban Ryu smiling like that. He rarely smiled so I often thought he had very few emotions.

"Soo Ho, why are you looking at them so intensely?"
"Just in case Ban Ryu hurts Soo Yeon."
"Oi, I don't think he'd do that to her."
"Yeah but just in case. He is my rival after all."
"Yeah but she has nothing to do with your 'rivalry'."
"Whatever."

Ji Dwi's POV

"Mother, what are you talking about?"
"I know you love (Y/n), but that relationship has to end. You need to marry the princess from-"
"No, I refuse."
"Jinheung, think about it this way. Your sister, Sook Myung, is also going to be marrying a prince. You won't be alone."
"Nothing you say will convince me."
"If you don't, war will be inevitable. You know that, right?"
"Yeah I do, but that doesn't mean that I can't prevent it from happening."
"And how do you expect to do that?"
"Do you really have to question whatever I do?"
"*sigh* I am not cancelling the marriage so I suggest you get prepared."

Tch, she wasn't listening to anything I had to say. An arranged marriage? With someone I didn't even know? Why?...

How was I going to tell (Y/n)? She'd get upset for sure, and I couldn't get out of it. That stupid marriage... Sook Myung was already going to marry a prince so why did I have to as well?

"Hey Ji Dwi, something wrong? You looked depressed," exclaimed Sun Woo.
"Yeah, my mother arranged a marriage for me. *sigh* All she cares about is status..."
"Does (Y/n) know?"
"No...I can't bring myself to tell her."
"Then there's only on solution for this."
"What is it?"

He pulled me up and gestured for me to follow him. We went to town, where (Y/n) and Soo Ho were spying on Ban Ryu and Soo Yeon. What kind of solution is this? Watching them spy on their friends?

"So?"
"You go tell (Y/n), but first, you need to toughen up and...yeah, that's all."
"...I seriously have nothing to say."

(Y/n)'s POV

~Some time later~

Ji Dwi had told me everything...about the arranged marriages. So there was no way for him to get out of it, huh?

"Have you met her yet?"
"No, but she'll be coming tomorrow."
"...Ji Dwi, you need to smile more. We can't whine about it now."
"Yeah, you're right."

Suddenly, a large crowd had gathered nearby. Why? What was everyone looking at?
We went over and headed to the front of the crowd.

"Who are you?" Ji Dwi asked.
"I am princess Yoona, your highness."
"You were supposed to arrive tomorrow."
"Yeah, that's right. But we arrived earlier than expected."

She quickly stood up and held his hand as if they were already in a relationship.

"I am so excited for this wedding, aren't you? To be honest, I never thought you would look this good. Usually, the kings a princess would have to marry would be way older-"
"I'm sorry, but I have no intention of marrying you. I already love someone else."

He grabbed my hand and led me somewhere else, away from everyone else. The princess stared at us in shock as we left.

Yoona's POV

That girl...so her name was (Y/n), huh? The adopted daughter of Lee Taebin? The crazy old carpenter? I was going to destroy her. Jinheung was mine, and no one else's. If anyone tried to get in my way, I'd have no choice but to eliminate them.

"Your highness."
"What is it?" asked the queen.
"I have some terrible news. (Y/n) has only been using Jinheung for her own benefits. It was truly surprising for me to find out."
"Do you have any proof?"

I looked at my loyal servant, Min.

"Yes, your highness. I have seen her talk about it. I never expected that to happen but it did. She stole his money and did many other bad things..." he said.
"Guards!"
"Yes?"
"Bring me (Y/n). She is sentenced to death."

I secretly smirked. Now that (Y/n) will be gone, Jinheung was all mine. No one else would be able to have him.

~The afternoon~

"Mother, why are you doing this?! Let (Y/n) go!"
"No, Jinheung. She fooled everyone here. She deserves to die."

(Y/n) had been tied to a post with hay and grass surrounding her. She was going to be burnt as punishment for using the king.

The guard lit the hay on fire. Jinheung was being held back by many guards. Tears had formed in his eyes.

"No, stop! She did nothing wrong!"
"Jinheung, just accept the fact that she betrayed us!"

I giggled, causing him to look at me. He soon realised that it was me all along, but there was nothing he would be able to do.

"Yah! Why?! What did (Y/n) ever do to you?!"
"She took you."

He grabbed onto my dress.

"You're lucky that everyone's here. If they weren't, I would've gladly taken your life."
"Well, too bad. You'll be marrying me soon."

He pushed me away before looking back at (Y/n) with tears sliding down his cheeks. Plan success...don't you think?
