Ji Dwi's POV

Sook Myung still refused to let us go pass. I couldn't exactly order the guards to take her away. Mother would obviously stop me, seeing as how she had more power than me.

"Give it up. There is no way I'm letting you pass."
"Ji Dwi, I think you should just tell her," exclaimed Sun Woo.
"*sigh* I didn't think I'd really need to tell her."
"Tell me what?" Sook Myung asked.
"My real name is Jinheung, your brother."
"Stop making up useless lies."
"If I wasn't the king, I don't think we would've been able to find this place."
"B-but..."
"Now let us pass. If you do not, I will order the guards to take you away."

She seemed extremely angered but reluctantly moved out of the way. Before we went, she grabbed onto my arm.

"Do not think I won't pay you back for this."
"I'd like to see you try."

~Some time later~

(Y/n)'s fever had gone down but she still seemed weak from using her power. Sun Woo had left to get some rest after leaving the book with me.

(Y/n) moved and sneezed. I pulled the blanket over her. Maybe it was getting cold. I mean, I couldn't tell the difference.

"J-Ji Dwi.."
"(Y/n)? Are you awake?"
"I know how we can save everyone."
"We can talk about that later. You're still in bad condition-"
"No, I have to do it now...before it gets too late."
"Too late? We have one week left."

She pushed herself up and stood up before heading outside. I quickly followed her. She wobbled while walking but still kept on going. She was going to the forest.

"Ji Dwi, give me the ruby that Lulu left."
"How do you know about that?"
"She told me in my dream."

I handed her the ruby. She used it to draw a strange pattern on the ground. It seemed as if a red liquid was acting as the pen to draw it. It almost looked like blood.

It seemed like she was hesitating after she had finished. What was she thinking about?

"Ji Dwi, I need.."
"What? What do you need?"
"...y-your blood."

She looked as if she didn't want to do this. I just smiled and pat her head. It wasn't like she needed a lot, right?

"Give me the ruby."

She handed it to me. I used it to cut my hand. She quickly used the ruby to absorb the blood running down my fingers.

"Sorry about this."
"Don't be."

She managed to smile before continuing with whatever she was doing.

The ruby was crushed, turning into ashes, which made the pattern glow a vibrant red. She cut her hands and let her blood drip down onto the glowing circle.
Afterwards, lightning struck down, causing the pattern to ignite in flames. (Y/n) was barely avoiding it. She then looked at me with a guilty look on her face.

Suddenly, more of my blood seemed to be sucked into the flames along with hers. It also seemed as if some kind of energy was leaving her body. She collapsed onto the knees.

I wanted to go to her and pretend that this was all a dream...if only it was possible.
I felt dizzy, almost like I was fainting. Was it due to the blood loss?

"J-Ji Dwi, don't lose consciousness," exclaimed (Y/n).

(Y/n)'s POV

He couldn't faint just yet. This wouldn't work if he did. We just need to wait a little bit more before it all ended. Once my power was all gone, this would all be over.

"Stop right now!"

I looked up and saw the queen along with Sook Myung and a couple of guards. Ji Dwi immediately turned to face them, despite the blood loss.

"Mother, what are you doing?" he asked, suspicious of her intentions.
"I have come here to stop her. You both are risking your lives right now for no reason. We just need to kill her to end all this," replied the queen.
"No, you're not killing anyone anymore. I won't let you," he said while taking out his sword.

Sook Myung quickly got hers out and pointed it at Ji Dwi.

"Do you feel no shame, pointing a sword at the king?" he asked her with a fierce look in his eyes.
"I do not serve you, the one in power now is our mother."

The queen looked at me, her eyes widening once she noticed that it was almost complete. Just one more line to be filled with my power before it all ended.

Once it was done, the flames surrounded my body before disappearing altogether. I couldn't stay awake any longer...

No one's POV

"(Y/n)!"

Ji Dwi immediately caught her, completely ignoring his current condition.

"*sigh* I suppose it's all over now..." commented the queen.
"Mother! We need to-"
"No, Sook Myung. There's nothing for us to do now."

~Some time later~

Ji Dwi and (Y/n) were both taken back to the palace and had been treated.

The queen was secretly glad that Ji Dwi, Sun Woo and (Y/n) had found the way to save everyone. She didn't feel like she could stay in power forever, so was thinking of giving up the throne. Of course, Sook Myung opposed this as she did not trust Ji Dwi enough.

"Sook Myung, your brother will make a good king."
"Tch, he only defends that idiotic girl."
"Do not speak like that."
"Mother, I strongly disagree with your decision. You have ruled Silla just fine until now."
"*sigh* But it's now time to hand over the throne to my son. I trust him."
"But I do not."
"Well, you will learn to."

Sook Myung soon realised that she had no say in this and that there was no way for her to change her mother's mind. The queen had no thoughts of being swayed so everything was going to be done soon.
