I walked with Elsa to lunch. In all of my classes kids were giving me strange looks but I shrugged it off. We sat down at a table with six other people. I recognized Punzie, Hiccup and Anna. The other kids consisted of a girl with wild red hair, a boy with perfect brown hair and chocolate colored eyes, and a muscular blond guy. I sat down between Elsa and Punzie.
"Okay guys." Elsa said, the table quieted. "This is Jack! Jack, this is Merida, Flynn, and Kristoff!" She said. Whenever the persons name was said, that person waved at me. I nodded once and started eating my lunch. There was an akward silence at the table. I could tell everyone -not including me- was looking for something to say. I go through this at every new school. I usually only last about a week and then I'm moved to a new orphanage for (purposeful) misbehavior.
"So," Flynn akwardly said, turning to me. "You play sports?" I looked up from my hamburger. He gulped and I smirked. He seemed to relax.
"Hockey." I said. Flynn nodded and Kristoff looked at me with a friendly smile.
"I play hockey too!" He exclaimed, "I can talk to coach about getting you on the team. Ask your parents if you can stay after school today to show coach your moves!" I frowned and stared at the middle of the table.
"My parents are dead." I said quietly. Everyone turned to me with sad expressions on their faces.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know." Kristoff apologized.
"Yeah? Well sorrys not going to stop that gun from going off, now is it?" I snapped. Everyone avoided my gaze. I felt a single tear slide down my face.
"Jack-" Elsa started, but before she could finish I stood up and rushed out of the cafeteria. I found a broom cupboard and went inside. There wasn't any light in the small space but that didn't matter.
I leaned against the wall and slid down to the floor. I brought my knees to my chest and wrapped my arms around them. I let out the tears that I hadn't realized I had been holding in. I put my head on my knees and cried. I heard the door open and someone come in. They closed the door behind them and sat next to me. A small, cold hand was placed on my shoulder
"Jack?" It was Elsa. Her voice was soft and gentle. "Are, are you okay?" She asked. I don't know what compelled me to, but I shook my head. Usually when people asked, I lied and said I was fine. But for some reason why, I feel like I can be honest with Elsa. She wrapped an arm around me and I moved my head to her shoulder. She moved her other hand to my head and ran it through my hair slowly as I cried on her shoulder. She started humming a soft melody and it soothed me. When I finished crying, I looked up at Elsa. She was looking at me with concerned eyes.
"Are you okay now?" She asked. I nodded. "Do, do you want to talk about it?" She asked. I shook my head.
"Not yet. Not now. Could you keep doing what you were doing a second ago?" I asked shyly. She gave me a small smile and nodded. I repositioned myself so that I had an arm around her waist and rested my head back on her shoulder. She started to run her hands through my hair again and started to lightly hum. Then she suprised me by kissing me gently on the forehead. I looked up at her, glad it was too dark for her to see my blush. I sat up.
"What was that for?" I asked for the second time.
"Because, I could tell you needed one." She said.
"How did you know?" I wgispered, moving my free hand to her cheek, my fingertips grazing over the cold skin.
"I don't know. I just...know." she whispered back, her hand cupping my cheek. She started leaning in and I did the same. Our lips barely grazed each other before Elsa drew back.
"No, we can't." She whispered. I knew she was right. I couldn't develope a realtionship if I was to be switching orphanages soon. But what if I didn't misbehave? What if I stayed here? No, thats not an option. Was it?
"Why not?" I whispered.
"Because." She simply stated. I waited for her to say more but she didn't.
"Just give me a reason not to." I whispered, leaning in again. She leaned away. This continued until she was laying flat on the ground with me hovering over her.
"Jack." She breathed, her warm breath hitting my face. I leaned in again and this time she didn't resist. We closed our eyes as our lips slowly met in a gentle kiss. No tongue. Just a regular, ordinary, and extremely long kiss. When I felt like I couldn't hold my breath anymore, I pulled back with a smile. I looked at Elsa who was smiling, her eyes still closed and her fingers gently touching her lips.
"Elsa." I said softly. She just sighed happily. I tried again. "Elsa." No response, like she was in a trance. I leaned down and kissed her on the cheek. She giggled and slowly opened her eyes. "Elsa." She looked at me.
"Yes, Jack?" She spoke in a dreamy tone.
"Would you like to go out on a date with me?" I asked. She smiled widely and pulled me into a tight hug.
"Yes of coarse!" She exclaimed. I sighed in relief. We stood up and adjusted our clothes. We walked out of the closet and were greeted by a group of people.
