Hanging out with Hiccup and his friends was fun, you had to admit. The twins got themselves into a lot of mischief, but they had a great sense of humour. Fishlegs was very intelligent and knew so much about dragons that it blew you away. Astrid was very strong and took nothing from no one because she was kind of intimidating. And Snotlout...well despite him hitting on you, he was pretty nice.
Even though it was getting late, you were all still hanging out. But your little hangout came to an end as a horn sounded, the large echoing making even Hiccup scramble over to Toothless. "(Name), quick!" Toothless hurried over to you as Hiccup pulled you onto the saddle...which was directly in front of his lap! You hid your reddening face and tried to climb around him but Toothless had shot into the air already and you were forced to cling to Hiccup's chest so you wouldn't fall off. "You're pure evil, you know that right?" You ask, narrowing your eyes at a smug looking Hiccup.
Before he could reply with a witty comeback Toothless had landed in front of the Great Hall and shook himself to rid of you and his rider. "Get inside," he hissed impatiently, "quickly!" You slipped off Toothless, Hiccup following in suit as you stroked the black dragon's snout. "What's wrong, Tooth?" The Night Fury leaned into your touch closing his eyes, before snapping out of it and nudging you towards the doors. "It's an important meeting. Go!" You squeaked as you were shoved into Hiccup, causing you both to fall through the doors and topple to the ground, becoming a tangled mess on the floor.
You groaned and blinked open your eyes, noticing green eyes directly in front of yours and a weight pressing on your chest. You tried to scramble away as your cheeks reddened, but Hiccup was still mildly stunned from the fall and he was also a lot heavier than you. Toothless thrummed as if mimicking a laugh and dragged you both over to Stoick. The jerking of being heaved to his father by a dragon, Hiccup shook his head and realised he was crushing you. His cheeks warmed slightly as he quickly got off of you and held out a hand to pull you up. You took it, not looking at him and instead, realising that the entire village had witnessed it all. Your cheeks burned in embarrassment, as you ducked behind Hiccup.
"Are you two done?" Stoick's voice cut in, making Hiccup look towards him and freeze from dusting himself off. "Huh?" He took a moment to look around, noticing the amused faces of the villagers and his father's faces. It struck him that everyone saw the whole thing and he chuckled awkwardly. "Y-yeah, we're done, dad. Go on ahead." Stoick laughed and shook his head, before turning to the whole village. "It's time, yet again that we go take the resources we need if we want to survive. Winter is almost here, and we need more livestock if we're going to make it. Outside the Archipelago, south-west of Berk is an English settlement that has farmlands and riches. We set sail in a few days."
You took a moment to process what Stoick said before it struck you. "Wait a minute...is this a raid?" You whispered to Hiccup. He only nodded, not looking at you and instead, looked at a map his father had spread out on the table. "What about the women?" A man from the back of the room asked. Stoick straightened himself. "I'll be here, on Berk, as I'm leaving the leadership of this raid to my son. This means most of the women will be here. However," his eyes landed on you briefly, before looking back to the villagers, "I have decided on a few women who will accompany this raid. Some are our best fighters, but I have also decided to let our newest villager, (name), to tag along."
As soon as you heard your name, the world around you slowed and your heart began to race. You slumped against Hiccup, him worrying and turning to see if you were okay. "A-are you sure th-that's a good idea?" You asked in a small voice, looking up to the burly leader of the tribe. A smile grew on his face. "You're full of charisma and energy. I firmly believe it's a good chance for you to bond with the other villagers."
"Dad, I don't think—" Stoick clapped his son on the back, cutting him off. "Nonsense, it's a great idea! Besides, she'll be riding with you." You stood beside Hiccup, brushing hands with him under the table. He took the hint and slipped his fingers through yours, giving your hand a small squeeze. "I really don't think that's a good idea. I'm not good at fighting or anything of that sort." Stoick shrugged. "You'll learn on the job!" You frowned. "But—"
"It's already been decided, lass. You're going. Whether you want to or not. That's final." You sigh in defeat. "Meeting dismissed. Astrid, if you could stay a moment? Everyone else, go prepare the ships. I'll approach the women going later." And with that the room grew empty very quickly. Astrid obeyed and came around the table. You flushed and took your hand away from Hiccup's before she could notice. "Yes, Stoick?"
"If you get the chance, during the raid preparations, please teach (name) basic sword fighting. I'd put Hiccup up to it but I doubt it'd get done." Hiccup responded with a hurt; "Hey!" but his father ignored him. Astrid nodded. "Of course. See you around, (name). I'll make sure that you are fighting fit in a few days time." She smiled and left. Stoick then looked around somewhat awkwardly. "Well, I should be...y'know, getting things prepared. Son, take her home and then come back. We have things to discuss." Hiccup nodded in defeat and lead you outside. "Sorry about that."
You followed him onto Toothless, hearing the click of his prosthetic leg clicking into the saddle before he took off. "Don't apologise. I made it worse by trying to get out of it." He laughed bitterly. "I don't understand why he wants you to go. He doesn't let many women on raids, especially those who can't fight." You shrugged your shoulders, then frowned as you landed.
You slipped off the saddle and stroked Toothless' snout, making him purr. You looked up at Hiccup. "It's not your fault. He seems like a stubborn man. At least we know where you got that from." You offered him a small smile and received one in return. "You should go inside. Go get changed. I'll be back before you know it." You nod and turn to leave as he flies away. You made sure to close the front door before slipping up the stairs into Hiccup's room.
It didn't take long for you to change into the old green tunic Hiccup gave you. So now you were seated on his bed, bored with nothing to do. You weren't exactly tired, even though the sun had already sunk in the sky, and the moon was now out. You did notice, however, a pile under Hiccup's desk. Curiously, you went over and grabbed the pile, quickly realising that they were the clothes you were wearing when Hiccup found you. You held them up, looking at them with a small smile. You're about to fold them and put them back when you felt something in the pant pocket.
You furrowed your brows and pulled it out, examining the object until you remembered what it was. "My phone!" You exclaimed, pressing the home button and seeing that it only had fifteen percent battery. You unlocked the phone and went through your stuff. Your music was all there, and so were all your photos and apps. You had no service whatsoever, and there were no WiFi connections available.
You decided to go through your gallery when you came across a picture of Hiccup.
Your heart stopped. The memories flooded back, and you remembered everything. You were in a movie...or at least you were about to be in one. "How?" You frowned, tears lining your eyes. "Oh god...please...let me stay here. Please let this be real." You looked to the ceiling, tears streaking down your face, wishing and praying that you would be here when you woke up and that you weren't dreaming.
You couldn't be dreaming though, could you? This all felt too real.
