Always There (A Snarry story)

Chapt. 4 Rescue and shopping

It's just a few days before Harry's birthday, and the Dursley's have been extremely hard on the poor boy. Snape hasn't seen him all week, they wouldn't let him out of the house. Severus was outside on his porch reading quietly when he heard a set of feet running closer to him. The man looked up from his book to see it was Harry who was running. The boy made his way up the steps and straight into the potion master's lap and clung to him. "Harry what's wrong?" Snape spoke in a gentle tone. "They want to take me away Sev, they don't want me going to hogwarts". Severus ran his hand through the boys hair. "they can't keep you away from Hogwarts, the headmaster will always find a way, if not I will come and get you myself" The child looked up at him. "Promise?" Severus smiled at him "Promise"

The next day the Dursley's and the potter boy left for a rock surrounded by water. The boy's hope in the man's promise slowly diminishing.

While Harry was stuck in an old lighthouse, Snape paced his livingroom full of worry. Hagrid stopped by Spinner's end intrupting his pacing. "Sorry Perfesser, but Dumbledore wants you to go with me to pick up 'Arry from his aunt and uncle" He gave the man a questioning look but agreed seeing it involved Harry. He followed The half giant to his motorcycle, more like death trap.

Harry layed quietly on the dirt floor and watched his cousin's watch. In front of him was a cake he drew in the dirt. Slowly but surely the watch hands hit midnight. "Happy birthday Harry" he whispers to himself and blew out the fake candles. Soon after a bang came from the door, then another, and another. The poor old door eventually fell of the hinges from the force. There stood a large man in the door way and Harry hid right away scared of the new comer and wishing his Sev was there. All the comotion woke up his cousin. " 'Arry you put on some weight" the large man spoke to Duddly.  "That's not Harry Hagrid" said a familar voice  "of course it's not, my mistake" the giant smiled at Dudley.

Harry came out from his hiding spot and ran straight into the Dark claded man's arms. "Hello again Harry" Severus picked the small boy up as soon as he heard Vernon and Petunia come down the stairs. Vernon had a shot gun in hand and pointed it at them.  "Get out of my house and leave the boy you freaks" Harry hid his face in Severus' shoulder. "Perfesser get the boy out of 'ere I will take care of them" With a quick nod Severus  took the boy outside into the poor weather.  He casted a charm over them to keep warm and dry. "We will leave soon Harry"  He takes some of his wool cloak and wraps it around the child and calms him down some. A ruckus could be heard from inside followed by a gun shot and screaming before hagrid came out. "Lets get goin' now, rented rooms fer you two at the the leaky cauldren thanks to the headmaster". Snape looked at the half giant, "They better still be alive hagrid" he got a nod in return.

Hagrid dropped them off and went back to the School. Snape showed Harry to his room after a quick goodnight "Now then, I am right next door if you need me" Harry nodded and went inside. Severus went into his own room and threw off his cloak and robes, onto a nearby chair. Leaving him in a black dress shirt and dress pants. He fell on to the bed and eventually falls asleep.

Harry on the other hand could not. He laid awake in his bed tossing and turning. He was afraid that if he fell asleep he would wake up back in his cupboard under the stairs. He eventually gave up and decided to go see if Sev could help him. He got up and fixed his clothes and went out into the quiet hallway. He made his way to The man's room and went inside. He saw severus was asleep and didn't want to wake him. Instead he climbed in and pulled the blanket over them both. He scooted close to the edge far away just in case and curled up small as possible. Being near Severus helped him relax and eventually find sleep.

The next morning when Severus woke up, he rolled over and notice the small snoring lump. "Silly boy" he whispered. He reached over and pulled the boy against his chest and held him. Not moving till Harry woke up. when said boy started to wake he gently ran a hand through the boy's almost black messy locks. "Morning Sev" Harry yawned. "Good morning harry, pray tell, why are you in my bed?" Harry sat up and blushed not quite sure how to put it. He started to pick at the blanket in thought.  "um..I couldn't sleep..I thought mabe you could help...but you were already asleep and I ended up falling asleep in your bed" Snape gave a small smile "it's okay, let's get ready to go we have a lot of shopping  to do"

after a quick meal Severus took Harry out back. "Sev? why are we out here I thought we were going shopping?" The man shook his head. "we are Harry, in diagon alley like the rest of the wizarding world" the boy still looked confused. Severus took out his wand and tapped around the missing brick in a certain pattern. The wall opened up in front of them, making Harry gasp in suprise. "this is diagon alley Harry, we can find everything we need here"

The professor and the boy almost got everything on the list. "The last thing is a wand then we are all good"  Harry looked up from his list to see The Potion Master gone and no where to be seen. "Severus?" a woman noticed the boy looking quiet lost. she kneeled down in front of him. "Hello there sweetie! Are you lost?" Harry nodded. "well that's not good I am Molly Weasly, what's your name?" He gulped "Harry Potter" she gave him a small smile. others started to crowd around him because of the metion of his name. They eventually pushed Molly away from him to get a good look.

Severus stopped and turned around. the boy was really quiet all of a sudden. To his suprise the boy wasn't there. "Harry? Harry?!" He couldn't find him. Severus started to walk back the way he came, when he spotted a crowd of people. They were all talking about the potter boy, he knew something was wrong. Is began to push his way through snapping at someone here and there till he was in front of harry. who, at the moment, had curled up on himself in the middle of all these people. He kneeled down and pulled the boy against him. "SEVERUS!" harry burried his face in the fabric of the black robes. "you scared me half to death lad"

Snape took the boy ignoring everyone, and brought him to olivanders, where the store was completely empty besides the old business owner. "i'm sorry I scared you Severus. I looked up and you were gone" Severus let out a small sigh. "No Harry its my fault, I was walking to fast for you i am sorry" He brought the boy up to the counter and took a seat waiting for him to get his wand. While he sat he thought about how things will be different at the school.
