I knocked on Madison's door, anxiously waiting for her to open it. I was surprised when Travis opened the door instead. "Maddie just went out to get some stuff. You want to come in?" I sat down on the couch and Travis took a seat beside me. "What's wrong Liv?" I had no idea what to say. What should have I said? That the person who already rejected me got a girlfriend? That the person I've liked for so long will never like me back? I felt so pathetic. "Nathan got a girlfriend." Travis knew about my feelings. He was one of my best friends after all. "Oh! I'm so sorry." I shook my head. "No I'm happy for him. At least I want to be. It just hurts, you know?"

He wrapped his arms around me and I laid my head on his shoulder. "It makes me feel so insecure. I know that every time I see them together, I'm going to be reminded that I wasn't good enough for him." He sighed. "I used to feel the same way about Madison." I looked up at him, confused. "What are you talking about? Madison has liked you for so long and she didn't even try to hide it." He nodded. "I know. But have you looked at her? I always thought she could do so much better." "She loves you Trav. She could not do better even if she tried." He smiled at me and I smiled back. "I know that now. I trust her with my life. But before we started dating, I never believed it."

Travis stopped to take a breath and then continued. "Someone is always going to make you feel inferior, Olivia. You've gotta believe in yourself. You are an amazing girl and you are going to find someone who loves you for who you are. I just told you how I felt before I started dating Madison and look where we are now." He was right. I hadn't seen a couple more in love than those two. It wasn't puppy love. They had really strong feelings for each other. Anybody could see that. "Thanks Travis. You have no idea how much I wanted to hear something like that." I hugged him just as the door opened and Madison walked in.

"Travis I couldn't get you- Oh! Hey Liv. What are you doing here?" I snorted. "Thanks Madison. That is exactly how you greet your best friend." She rolled her eyes but cracked a smile. "You know that's not what I meant. I didn't expect you so I asked." I laughed. "I know, I know. I will get out of your hair. I don't want to be the third wheel." I got up but Maddie stopped me. "No, you should stay. We can call Aiden over and have one our movie marathons. Just like old times." I wanted to give them their privacy but Madison's idea sounded so appealing. The four of us used to have the best movie marathons ever.

"I don't think your parents would like it if four teenagers trashed their living room unannounced." She chuckled. "My parents aren't coming home tonight." I felt the heat rise up to my cheeks as I pieced it together. "Oh my god! That's why you invited Tra-Oh god! No! I'm going home. I don't want to hear that." They both burst out laughing. "You should look at your face right now." Madison came up to me, wrapping her arm around my shoulders and leading me towards the kitchen. "Don't worry Liv. We can postpone our plans. Trav, can you call Aiden?" "On it." We entered the kitchen and I helped Madison with her grocery bags.

"You know what? You have a great guy Mads. Don't let him go." I felt as though I was saying that to a lot of people in one day. She looked at me, clearly confused. "Okay. Where is this coming from?" I shook my head. "Nowhere. Just hold onto him, okay?" She nodded, but looked unconvinced. She decided to let it go and I was okay with that. I told her about my study session with Nathan and her reaction was the same as Travis. Why couldn't they understand that I was happy for him? We were still talking about it when the doorbell rang.

"I'm here and I brought pizza." I laughed as Aiden came in and settled on the couch, placing the pizza on the coffee table in front of him. Me and Madison went to the living room, Madison sitting beside Travis and me between him and Aiden. "So what are we watching?" We fought for about fifteen minutes before deciding on a Harry Potter marathon. Classic us. We all took a slice of the pizza as the movie started. It did feel like old times. We hadn't hung out, just the four of us in so long and I had really missed it. So we spent the rest of the night laughing and fighting over the last slice. (Which Aiden got of course. No amount of food will ever be enough for him.)

I woke up the next day at around eleven. Thank god for Saturdays! Madison and Travis were already up but Aiden was still sleeping. I lightly kicked him on my way out, causing him to groan and pull the sheets over his head. I laughed and made my way towards the kitchen. "Thanks for yesterday Maddie. I really needed it." She smiled at me. "All of us did." We had breakfast together as Aiden surprisingly woke up shortly after me and I was on my way towards my house.

I was in no way ready for Monday. I was definitely not ready to see Nathan and Grace together. They were both pretty popular, so I was sure they were going to be the only thing people would talk about on Monday. How was I going to get through that?

____

Monday arrived faster than I had expected. I woke up and quickly got dressed into my jersey and shorts. I had soccer practice first. We had our matches coming up and we needed to be ready. I raced out the door and into Madison's car. We reached school pretty quickly. "You going to be okay?" I nodded at Madison even though I really didn't know the answer myself. Soccer practice meant seeing Nathan and Grace. I took in a deep breath, saying goodbye to Madison and made my way towards the field.

Just as I had expected, Nate and Grace were standing near the bleachers and I did not want to see what they were doing. I strided onto the field and waited for the rest of the team to arrive. Practice began and I could feel myself getting pissed off as she kissed him on the cheek and walked towards me. I tried to calm down. Our game was much more important.

We split into two teams and I made sure that Grace was on the opposite team. The game began and I dribbled the ball towards the goal, Grace hot on my heels. She tried to take the ball away from me and something inside me clicked. I pushed her with one hand causing her to fall down. I didn't think I pushed her that hard. I continued to take the ball towards the goal. She could get up on her own. I was about to shoot the ball into the goal when I heard Coach's voice. "Scott come here. Now!" I groaned, passing the ball to Delilah and walked towards him.

"What was that?" He demanded. "I was trying to keep her away from the ball. It was an accident." He looked far from convinced. "Whatever it is going on between you two, that is outside the field. Personal matters do not matter on the field, got it?" "Yes coach." He sighed. "You're the captain Olivia. This kind of behaviour is not acceptable." I looked down. "I know coach. I'm sorry." I was about to go back on the field but he stopped me. "Hit the showers." My eyes widened. "But I didn't even get a chance to-" "Shower, now. You need to cool off." I made my way towards the showers, mentally cursing at myself.

It was just day one of seeing them together and it was this bad. How was I supposed to do this? I needed to find a way. This had to stop. Soon.
