"Where is he taking you?" I looked over my shoulder at Madison. "I have no idea." With that, I started digging in my closet again. A smile came to my face as I pulled out the black top I had been searching for. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I quickly took it out, answering the call. "To what do I owe the pleasure, your highness?" Even though it had almost been a week since Homecoming, I still liked teasing Nathan about it knowing that it annoyed him.
I laughed as I heard him groan. "Stop Liv. Homecoming was such a long time ago." I scoffed at his exaggeration but decided to let it go. "Okay okay. Why did you call?" "Right. I was wondering if you could come over to mine today for a study session. I have a few doubts that I want to clear up." I sighed and mouthed 'Nathan' to Madison when she asked who it was. "Sorry Nate. I won't be able to come today. I have a date." There was silence on the other side of the line for a few moments before he spoke up. "A date? With who?" I contemplated on telling him who it was. He knew Jacob since they were on the soccer team with each other. What if Nathan didn't like him?
I shook my head and cleared my thoughts. It didn't matter what anyone else thought. What did matter was that I liked Jacob and I was going on this date no matter what. "Jacob." "Collins? That's great Liv. He's a good guy." I let out a breath of relief and mentally slapped myself for thinking the worst of him. "I know. Anyways, I'll call you later and we can decide when to meet okay? I got to go."
I pulled the top on over the white skirt and quickly grabbed my ankle length boots. I looked at my phone and saw that it was already 7:00 pm. "He should be here any minute." As if on cue, the doorbell rang announcing Jacob's arrival. I snuck one last glance in the mirror and took a long breath. "What are you so worried about Olivia? It's just a date. Now go open the door. You don't want to keep him waiting." She pushed me out my bedroom door.
I opened the front door to reveal Jacob who had flowers in his hands. Lilies. "Hey." "Hi." "Hey Jacob." He smiled at someone behind me. "Hey Madison." I looked over my shoulder and quickly shooed her away, inviting Jacob inside. "Don't worry. You won't have to go through an interrogation today. My parents aren't home." He laughed. "I didn't mind. Anyway, you look really good Liv." I blushed and took the flowers from him, placing them in a vase.
_"Please." "No." "We're already on our way. Tell me." "Have patience." I huffed and looked out the window as Jacob chuckled in the driver's seat. "You're going to find out where we're going Liv. Just a few more minutes. We're almost there." After precisely five minutes, Jacob pulled up in front of Daya's. "Are you kidding me? How did you know? I love Daya's." He locked the car behind us as we walked towards the shop. "I didn't, honestly. I really like it so I hoped you would to. Clearly, I was right." I stopped and turned to look at him. "Of course you're right. Daya's has like the best ice cream ever." I ordered Strawberry and he ordered Mint Chocolate. We took our respective cones and started on a walk.
"Looks like walks are our thing Collins." He grinned. "They most definetely are Scott." And so we walked side by side talking about anything and everything. After covering a short distance, his hand shyly slipped into mine, our other hands still holding our ice creams. He told me all about his love for soccer and how he wants to become a professional and I told him how I thought about soccer as my passion and not a career.
We circled back towards Jacob's car, our ice creams completely finished. He drove me back to my house and as we reached the front door, I turned around to face him. "Thank you so much for taking me on this date Jacob." He shook his head. "I should be the one thanking you. I really didn't think you would agree to go on a date with me." "Well you thought very very wrong. I loved our date." He smiled at me and I couldn't help but return the gesture. We stared at each other for a few moments and my mind was screaming 'Kiss him. What are you waiting for?' But he made the first move and as he leaned in, I met him in the middle, our lips connecting with each other.
Fireworks, butterflies, nothing like that could describe how and what I was feeling in that moment. When we pulled away, we were both out of breath but smiles evident on our faces. "I've been wanting to do that since Homecoming." I pecked his lips once more. "I would've been okay with that." He laughed at my response. "Well I better get going. I'll talk to you tomorrow okay?" I nodded and he kissed me again. "Good night." With that he got in his car and left. I opened the door and went up to my room. I closed the door behind me and squealed like a little girl.
I tried to go to sleep but I just couldn't stop thinking about Jacob and our date. It had just been one date and I already wanted this relationship to go somewhere. Hopefully, he did too. And with that thought in mind, I drifted off.
