I smoothened out my dress as I heard the front door open, announcing the Walkers' arrival. My thoughts were confirmed when I heard the shouts of all three boys. I rolled my eyes at their childishness and made my way downstairs. The Walker brothers each greeted me with a hug which I returned happily. "J! It's good to have you home." Jordan smiled at me. "It's good to be back."

I accompanied my mom and Sophia into the kitchen where Sophia was insisting on helping my mom out with the food. I had absolutely no experience with cooking and so I rushed out before my mom could give me any work. Dad and Lance were sitting in the backyard and I waved at them before entering the living room. I shook my head at the scene in front of me. Nathan, Daniel and Jordan were playing video games like their life depended on it. Just like old times. I swear I grew up with three annoying, disgusting brothers.

They paused the game when they noticed me and ushered me over. "What do you want to us to beat you in? Your choice." I scoffed at my brother and his cockiness. "You're going to lose this time and I was thinking more along the lines of outdoor activity. Not shooting people for no reason." All three of them stood up. "Are you saying what I think you're saying?" I nodded. "It's time for one of our soccer matches."

All four of us had played soccer growing up, most of the times together. Jordan and Daniel always used their age as an advantage and beat us and Nate and I thought it was unfair. Hence we hadn't played soccer together for a long time. But our elder brothers were both out of practice and Nathan and I were definitely not. It was finally time we beat them in the sport all four of us loved so much.

The rules were like always, simple. The match would be of only 20 minutes. We would use cones as goals. Whoever scored the most goals won and the losers would have to be their slaves for the entire Christmas break. That was a match we could not afford losing. We geared up and entered the backyard, asking our dads to referee for us.

I looked at Nathan and nodded, him returning the gesture. The game began and it was like we were playing a championship match. I easily dribbled the ball between my feet and went past Daniel. I looked up to see Jordan coming at me and passed the ball to Nathan, who shot it in the goal effortlessly. We high-fived each other and continued the game.

Lance signalled us to stop after the 20 minutes were over and I smirked at my brother. "Looks like you're gonna be busy for the entire Christmas break, Dan." My brother groaned and I laughed at him. We had won 7-2, reminding me just how out of form our brothers were. My mom's voice interrupted us as she called all of us inside for dinner. We changed again and joined our families at the dinner table.

My eyes automatically roamed the entire table, a smile making its way to my face as I remembered how we used to do this on a weekly basis when we were younger. How it was easier back then. When I didn't have any stupid feelings to deal with. It was just two close knit families having dinner together. But in that moment, it felt like so much more.

Everyone was engrossed in the conversations throughout the dinner but then Sophia said something which made my ears perk up. "I always thought Nathan and Olivia would somehow end up together." My eyes met Nathan's and an unreadable expression crossed his face. Was it fear, guilt? I couldn't understand. "Everyone thought that. These two were so close growing up and we already think of Nate as a son, so it wouldn't have been surprising." I closed my eyes, hoping that our parents would end this conversation and smiled gratefully at Daniel when he attempted to change the topic. 'Everyone thought that.' Well, everyone other than Nathan himself. I brushed off those thoughts before my mind wandered to places I didn't want it to.

The Walkers left soon after that and I went up to my room almost immediately, the conversation still messing with my head. Someone knocked on my door and I looked up to see Daniel standing there. I gestured him to come inside and he took a seat beside me on my bed. "So I heard you got a boyfriend. When am I going to meet him?" I rolled my eyes. "Never. If he meets you, he'll probably think my family is batshit crazy and never want to talk to me again." He chuckled. "He's dating you Olly. He probably already knows our family is crazy." I shoved him and he almost fell off the bed.

"You seemed pretty uncomfortable during dinner. Especially when they were talking about you and Nathan. Am I missing something?" I contemplated on telling him. I needed to talk to someone. But did that someone have to be my brother? "I don't know Dan. I'm just really confused right now." He wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "I'm always here for you sis. You know that." I looked up at him and smiled. "I do know that. Thank you for what you did before, you know, to change the topic." "No problem."

I pulled away from him and stood up. "Just because I'm grateful to you right now doesn't mean you're off the hook Daniel. I'll make you a list of stuff that I need you to do for me." He threw his head back overdramatically and I laughed at him. "Shit."
