An Upcoming Star

Lucy's POV
Rachel came back here this evening with Bree and Jack. I was at Steph's helping her organise the rooms for them when they arrived. Steph ran straight down the stairs for them and Amelia wasn't far behind.

I made my way down the stairs and saw them all standing in the hall greeting one another.

"Aunt Lucy!"
"Hi buddy."

Jack came running to me and I bent down to pick him up. He hugged me tightly and I was surprised. I hugged him back and rubbed his back slightly. He still hadn't let go and I looked over at Rachel and she was looking at us worryingly. I raised my eyebrows at her and she shook her head frowning. I turned my attention back to Jack and kissed his head.

"Are you okay buddy?"
"I missed you aunt Lucy."
"I missed you too buddy but we have two weeks together. I promise I'll come by everyday and we can whatever you want."
"Really?"
"Yes really. Now, go have fun with Amelia. She's dying to play."

I set him down and he and Amelia went off running. I walked over to Rachel and Steph. Steph already had Bree in her arms and I smiled down at her. She looked at me and smiled slightly and wrapped her small hand around my finger. Steph handed her to me when she heard something fall and then ran into the kitchen.

I looked down at Bree in my arms and the smile still hasn't left me face. I looked over at Rachel and saw her looking at right at me with a smile on her face.

"What?"
"You're really good with babies."
"I practically raised my little sister. My parents were away a lot when we were kids so we live with my grandparents. Granny was an incredible woman but she wasn't made for taking care of a teen and a three year old."

She walked over and stood in front of me. I looked away from her and down to Bree again.

"She really likes you. She's warmed up to you faster than she did for mom. The same with Jack. You got a bigger hello than mama did."

I lifted my head to look at her, which was a mistake. She was looking directly at me and I felt my heart beat increase. She never fails to make me feel this way.  I looked down at her hand and slowly reached my hand over to it and intertwined our fingers. I looked up at her again and saw her smiling down our hands.

She looked up at me and I smiled back at her. She took a step towards me and leaned her head against my chest. I chuckled softly and wrapped my arm around her shoulder and hugged her close. I looked down at Bree in my other arm and smiled.

"This is how it should've been. This should've been our family."
"It still can be."

She lifted her head and looked at me in confusion. I smiled at her and looked back down at Bree. Rachel put her hand on my cheek and caressed it softly. I turned my head to look at her and leaned into her touch. She looked down at my lips and back into my eyes.

I looked past her and saw Jack running towards us. Rachel turned and knelt down so she could pick him up. She set him on her hip and he leaned his head on her shoulder and yawned.

"I think it's time you go to bed little man. Cmon and I'll tuck you in."
"Can aunt Lucy do it?"

He looked at me hopefully and I smiled at him. I nodded my head and he cheered. Rachel set him down and he took off running up the stairs. We both chuckled at him.

"I better go."

I carefully handed Bree back over to her and ran up the stairs. I walked down to Jack's room and opened the door. He was already in his pyjama pants but didn't have a shirt on. I chuckled at him and walked further into his room. I went into the his suitcase and grabbed a tshirt and helped him put it on.
