the next days of training were the same as the first except i was becoming aware of many strengths not only for me but of the others. Peeta had barley spoke and was now on the ropes trying to get across but failed falling to the floor i ran up to him.

"through that big metal thing" i told him

"what?" he panted

"right now the careers are looking at you like their your next meal. give them something to question. do it" i urged

"no Haymitch said not to show our skills"

"Haymitch is not here besides i mostly don't care for what he says. throw it" i left and went to watch from afar he staggered over to the stand and took the largest ball before hauling it then throwing it so it hit some spears that go the wondering. Peeta looked at me and i gave him the thumbs up.

that night Haymitch was actually saying something worth while hearing.

"tomorrow they will take you individually and asses you now this is good for getting sponsors there will be a bow use it. anything to your advantage they higher score you get the better you'll be. they will start with District 1 so you two will be last. i don't know how to put it...make sure they'll remember you." we nodded in understanding

i sat with Peeta as 1 by 1 the went for evaluation

"Peeta say something to not make me so jittery"

"i really don't know why you get nervous your gonna be great" he chuckled

"this is not district 12 I'm out of my comfort zone and when I'm in a place i don't feel comfortable with i get nervous." i replied

"fine like i said you're gonna be great"

"Lilly Hawthorne" i stood up and went to the gate.

"hey Lilly pad" i turned around he had a nickname for me i blushed heavily.

"shoot straight" i nodded mutely and the late lifted up and i walked in the sponsors were talking not even noticing me enter. i saw the bow and took it as well as a arrow.

"Excuse me" the all looked at me "Lilly Hawthorne district 12" one nodded and i went to ready i took a deep breath and imagined i was in the forest. then let the arrow go i looked back to the booth but thy were back to chatting and not paying attention. how rude i thought i looked at them before noticing the pig had a apple in its mouth i smirked.

"okay you want a impression" i took another arrow and aimed it at the apple before letting go it took the apple and lodge it into a wall. they turned and looked at me speechless.

"thank you for your close attention" i bowed before putting the bow back and leaving.

"how was it" Peeta questioned.

"well i gave them something to think about. do you want me to wait for you"

"would you?" i nodded and sat back down.

"Peeta Mellark" Peeta left and i waited till he came out. Back in the pent house i was getting yelled at by Effie i payed little attention to her until Haymitch came in. he looked at me and gave me a thumb up. i grinned.

"nice shooting sweetheart" he sat down. "what did they do when you shot the apple at them"

"they looked shell shocked" he laughed

"now what did you say thanks for...."

"you close attention" i finished he laughed even more and called me a genius

"i don't think we are going to find this funny when the game makers decide to take it out on" she was cut off

"on who her? him? i think they already have loosen your corset and have a drink. i would have given anything to see it" later we watched the announcing of our scores i leaned my head on Peeta's shoulder seen as i was only interested in the two of us.

"Peeta Mellark" i sat up as did he " with a score of...eight" i cheered and hugged him

"nice one bake boy" i grinned

"Lilly Hawthorne" i stopped and looked at Ceaser "with a score of...11" my jaw dropped 11 no way i was lifted up into the air.

"well done Lilly Pad" i giggled as he put me down

"to Lilly Hawthorne...the girl on...fire!"

we sat a dinner discussing tomorrows events.

"now tomorrow is the last day before the games and each mentor gets to train you so i want you both down there at 9:00 okay"

"okay" we chimed
