It was Aidan.

"Bonjour." He said looking into her eyes.

He was too close to her, she couldn't help but push him away and sneeze.

"I am so sorry. I am allergic to perfumes." She mumbled.

He chuckled still lost in her beauty. From her smoky dark green eyes that had dazzling exotic black flecks within to her fair skin, brown hair and pouty lips which could form a gorgeous smile. Everything about her was just perfect. Her voice was like melting honey so sweet and soothing. She was just perfect.

"Tu es belle." He murmured.

She was standing still and studying him.

"What does that even mean?" She asked, annoyed remembering their last conversation.

"You're beautiful." He smiled.

Those words made her heart flutter. Not that she hadn't heard it before but nobody had told her in that way.

"Uhm, thanks. So that's the book you want, right?" She asked awkwardly changing the subject.

"Yeah." He nodded and started walking away.

She was still looking at his back as he rushed out of the library. He looked in a hurry but still turned and waved her goodbye.

She couldn't forget how breathtaking his eyes were. His eyes were brilliant hazel. The dark forest green on the edges contrasted beautifully with the amber colour in the middle. Sometimes the two colours seemed to swirl together and sparkle.

She walked home to find already waiting Lucy. They had dinner which Lucy had prepared. They had their schedules fixed. Breakfast was on Jovie and dinner was on Lucy.

They usually had a small pillow talk before either of them fell asleep and it was always Lucy who'd sleep first.

Jovie was lying on her bed thinking about the stuffs going on lately. Everything was going on perfect except for the dream about her mother. And that's what scared her the most. She thought about her sudden encounter with Aidan. He had some sort of strange aura to him, attractive yet dangerous.

Forget it.

**

"Dad, I am so sorry. Please forgive me." Jovie pleaded holding his hands so that he would not hit her again.

"You're a curse to my family. Everything is destroyed because of you, you piece of shit." Her dad scoffed pushing her away. "You should be dead."

He took a bottle of alcohol that was on the table. He broke the bottle and came closer. She was still pleading and begging for forgiveness.

"I apologize for all my wrong doings. I hope you'll forgive me, my daughter." He said as he knelt down bringing the bottle to his neck.

"Dad!" She cried confused about the sudden change. "No!"

"Forgive me. Forgive me. Forgive me." He murmured as slit his own throat.

"Daaaaaad!" She screamed.

She woke up trembling and sweating as Lucy called her name.

"This is bad! This is bad! Dad is in danger." She mumbled tears rolling down her cheek.

"What happened? What was the dream about?" Lucy asked her anxiously.

"I don't remember." She sobbed. "But.. but it was about dad. He's in danger."

"It's okay. Calm down." Lucy consoled patting on her head. "First thing in the morning we'll go and meet your dad."

She nodded and calmed herself so that Lucy would stop worrying and sleep peacefully.

**

It was 10:00 a.m., and Jovie was all ready to see her dad. Lucy was just getting ready and they had informed Ethan about it. They had decided to skip the morning session of school.

As Jovie and Lucy walked down, Ethan was already waiting for them in his car.

Ethan's father and Jovie's father were college buddies. They were like family but everything changed when her father started abusing her. Ethan's father, Mr. Warren advised her to leave her house and stay with Lucy.

But Jovie stayed with Lucy on a condition that she'd pay her rent and hence the part time job. She paid her own rent and her own school fees.

The atmosphere in the car was very gloomy. Jovie hadn't said a word since night. She was worried about her father.

They reached their destination after 15 minutes of extreme silence.

Jovie got out of the car and rushed towards her house. She saw from one of the windows that her father was sitting and drinking alcohol. She didnt have the courage to face her drunk father so she left. She was relieved that he was fine.

They went back to school and went straight to the cafeteria.

"I am happy that everything is fine." Lucy exclaimed.

"Yeah. Stop worrying now." Ethan comforted Jovie.

"I am fine." Jovie nodded and gave them a small smile.

But she had a strange feeling that something bad was about to happen.

They decided to eat something before attending their next classes. As they were eating Ethan got a call from his father.

"What?" He gasped after hearing something from his dad.

He was now looking at Jovie and Jovie exactly knew what it was about.

"It's all my fault." She murmured with tears in her eyes. "I am a bad luck."

"Jovie!" Lucy shouted as Jovie started running away.
