"Jovanna, come here. Come to mommy. Mommy misses you."
She ran towards her mother. But slowly saw her fade in front of her eyes. All she could see was a dusky path. She was searching for her, shouting and crying but was lost in the darkness.
"Mom! Mommmmmmmmmyyyyy!" She shouted as loud as she could.
"Jovie, Jovie. Wake up, Jovie." She heard a voice and felt that she was being shaken.
She woke up crying and trembling. Her heart still pounding, unable to realize what was happening.
"Jovie, calm down. Was is that dream again?" Asked her friend Lucy, worried.
She nodded and hugged Lucy tightly, tears still rolling down her cheek.
"It's okay. Don't cry. It's okay." Lucy patted on her back.
"Go to sleep now, it's only 3 a.m.." Lucy said after she had calmed down.
"Yeah, good night and I am really sorry." She sniffled.
"Do you want me to come in your nightmares and smack you?" Lucy frowned.
"Ah, sorry." She smiled.
"Night, babe." Lucy rolled her eyes and slept.
Dreams? I don't see them, I live them and people around were scarier than my nightmares.
She just wanted somebody to escape her from all this. She didn't want her thoughts to haunt her further so she looked outside the window and decided to do something crazy. She sneaked out to take a walk, in her PJs. She just put on a jacket to save herself from the cold.
Anyway, who's gonna see me.
She went to her favourite lake nearby and sat there looking at her reflection in the water. This is the place where she tried to commit suicide for the first time but was saved somehow.
She was staring at her reflection in the water when suddenly something caught her attention. She saw someone walking towards her. She turned around to see who it was.
She saw a guy wearing a see-through white shirt from which his perfectly toned abs could be seen paired with black jeans. His milky skin brought out his hazel eyes that sparkled under the moonlight, his messy light brown hair lying on the forehead made him look 10 times more attractive. She found the mole that was on the left side of his chin really captivating.
She felt as if she already knew him and he shared the same reaction.
"Hey." He said with the urge of wanting to know her more.
She looked at him with judging eyes but then decided to ignore him. Obviously why would she talk to a stranger in the middle of night but still kept the eye contact.
"Excuse me, Miss." He said again.
"I think you were not taught that you shouldn't be speaking to strangers." She said rather relaxed.
"But who could resist if the stranger is a rare combination of beauty and pain." He smirked.
He saw a small smile forming on her face but she erased it quickly.
"Don't you think it's time to sleep rather than flirt?" She said without breaking eye contact for even once.
"Don't you think it's time to sleep rather than wander alone?" He teased her.
"But you are wandering alone too." She defended.
"That means we both share similar nightmares." He mumbled as he walked closer to her.
She didn't reply but her eyes were fixed on something as he sat beside her.
He realized that she was actually staring at the mole on his chin. He couldn't help but blush by her reaction and she did the same when she came back to reality.
"Nightmares?" She asked curiously but looking away from him this time.
"Yeah. You have them too right?" He asked.
She looked him suspiciously for a while and asked. "Who are you? I've never seen you around before?"
"I am...." He paused for a moment. "I am your Angel."
She bursted out laughing. "That's like the most embarrassing pick-up line I've ever heard."
He stared at her as if he was looking at some piece of art. He felt that her smile was mesmerizing. He listened to her echoing laughter like he was listening to his favourite music.
"Atleast it made you laugh." He grinned. "And to your previous question I am Aidan."
"I am Jovie." She said hesitating to reveal her full name.
"I know Miss Jovanna Evans." He smirked realizing her hesitation.
"Stalker much?" She asked raising a brow but something inside told her that he was a good guy and not to worry about it.
"Maybe? May not be?" He teased.
"Nice meeting you Mr. Aidan. I better leave now." She replied calmly without any trace of fear.
"Nice meeting you too Miss Jovie." He said as she stood up. "And by the way tu es belle."
"Excuse me?" She asked, confused as to what it meant.
"À bientôt." He chuckled, enjoying the confused look on her face.
"Enough. Enough." She said walking away with slight irritation that she couldn't understand what he said.
And he sat there smiling like an idiot, remembering her reactions.
