My alarm didn't wake me up today. Today was an off day and I got to do whatever I wanted. I hopped out of bed and threw on what I could find. Black jeans a black shirt a blue flannel. I grabbed my phone and wallet. I walked across the hall to Madison's room and knocked on the door. She answered the door within a minute and told me I could come in her room. The room was painted green with black splatters.
"What do you need?" I sat on her bed and scratched the back of my neck, "I wanted to know if you were up for going to the fair with me," I said. She put her finger in her chin, "I don't know..... of course." She already had on leggings and a tie-dye shirt on. We walked out of her room and followed the steps down to to the fourth floor. The scouts floor. Dega was a scout, she was small and fast. We collected her from her room and went down two more floors, the fighters floor. Siqorra was bulky and fearless. We collected her from her room and finally made it out the door.Dega went to her car and got in the drivers seat. I was in the passengers seat. We drove to a nearby carnival, with humans. I silently prayed to Moon Goddess that I wouldn't find my mate there. We parked in the parking lot and I took out my wallet.
Displayed on the front was a moon that was shattered. Pack logo. I took out my money and paid for my ticket. As we walked into the giant carnival Siqorra bolted in front of us and almost knocked me down in the process. "My mate. He's here." My face showed a frown as we followed Siqorra to her mate. There he stood, a boy with blond hair swept to the right, his misty green eyes looking at her. I truly hoped that he was a wolf. My wish came true as he whispered, "mine." Siqorra took the boy by his hand and waved us off as she ran with him to the wooded area around the carnival.
I saw Siqorra's brown tail wag as she ran deeper into the forest with her mate. Then it hit me, I might never see Siqorra ever again after today, she might join his pack. I shook the thought from my head and looked at Dega and Madison. "So what rides do you want to do?" Madison asked. "How about the dropper?" Dega shook her head, "count me out." We went through the rides without finding something we'd all do. "Well, money wasted," I laughed and walked toward the wooded area that the mates disappeared in.
Dega shifted quickly into her ginger wolf with a white tail and circled us. Madison groaned, "I want to feel what it's like being a wolf." Dega whined and nudged her. Surprisingly, she was a big wolf for being a scout. I thought about how James shifted yesterday, why can't I do that? Memories of my brother Jonathan shifting for the first time popped into my head. I started hearing faint barks from deeper into the forest, "should we go check on Siqorra?" Dega nodded her head and wagged her tail.
Madison and I followed her through the woods only to see Siqorra and her mate back in human form with their hands intertwined. "Siqorra, are you going to tell Alpha Sean? Are you going to stay with Shattered Moon Pack?" Siqorra smiled a big smile, "he's going to be moving to our pack as soon as he tells Alpha Jerec of Dark Thunder Pack." I ran up to her and hugged her, which is rare. "I'm going to go with him to his pack tonight to tell his alpha then we'll be right back to Shattered Moon Pack." I heard Madison whisper, "thank Moon Goddess." Dega shifted back and asked a question we all wanted to know the answer to.
"It's only 1:00 what are we going to go the rest of the day?" I looked to the sky and thought about what we could do. "Dega, Madison, and I could go back home and tell Alpha Sean? You two can do what you like." Everyone agreed on the idea and we walked to Dega's car. As I turned the radio on and started signing to a song, we saw Siqorra and her mate wave goodbye to us. I of course waved back and turned my attention back to singing. About halfway through the ride Dega got a phone call. She turned the music down and hushed me.
"Hello?" she started, her face was marked with confusion. "Really? I'll be right there." She hung up and looked at me, "Alpha Jones wants to meet with the scouts. I can't believe that Alpha Sean agreed." I rolled my eyes, Alpha Jones has always been very greedy with his territory and won't ever get off our backs. We arrived at our territory in a matter of a few more minutes and Dega immediately went to see Alpha. Madison and I headed to a trail that was blazed a few years back.
"I wonder when I'll find my mate. Do you ever worry that you won't find yours?" I tilted my head to the side and looked at Madison. "Of course I get scared but, Moon Goddess has a plan. What I'm really afraid of is him not accepting me," I replied. She gave me a look, "nobody would ever not accept you, Tara." I gave her a look back, "and how do you know that?"
"I just feel it." I shook my head and started looking around for something interesting. I heard whimpers and turned around quickly. It was a white wolf and it's eyes were as blue as the sky. I quickly noticed who it was, "Colton, hey." The boy shifted into human form and started to speak, "alpha needs you two."
