Chapter 5, Unsettling feeling and Special someone

Adam's POV

After a while we arrive at A FREAKING KINGDOM SIZED BASE IN THE WOODS! It even has a giant wall around it and a gate! HOW HAS NONE OF US EVER HEARD OF OR SEEN THIS PLACE BEFORE?! We all gasp and are in awe. Even Cory stops glaring at Nova for a second to look at this place in awe! Nova and Star chuckle as we approach the gate. "Hey! Let us in!" Star yells and next thing we know the gate opens and we're led inside. But... the people who opened the gate look like the people who attacked us... I don't like this one bit.

While we're walking we pass by a very familiar and very unsettling statue... but I can't think of who it is! I swear, it's on the tip of my tongue! The writing at the bottom of the statue says "Our leaders' ancestor, fighting for what should be rightfully ours until the end!". "Who's that?" Jess asks and Nova responds with, "That's our ancestor. Our great great great great grandmother or something. She put her son in charge before she left to find something. She never returned. Only our family knows what happened to her and we're not allowed to tell anyone else. But what we can say is that she left to find and bring back what should rightfully be ours." I... I don't like this. I'm getting even more uncomfortable by the second! "I'm sorry that happened..." Shelby said, obviously not sensing anything wrong. Nova just smiled, "It's fine, you don't have to be sorry!" Then Star added "yeah! We're going to finish what she started and make her proud!" Shelby smiles at them, "I hope you are able to do that!" Star laughs quietly for some unknown reason and we keep walking.

Eventually, after an awkward silence and lots of glares by the people here, we get to a building in the center of this place. Nova and Star stop and turn towards us, saying at the same time, "Welcome to the Galaxy Army Base!" Everyone else gasps in awe again because it looks like a castle but a lot smaller. Jeez, just the name of this place gives me shivers down my spine. Though... nothing bad has happened so far. Maybe I'm just overreacting.

They lead us inside and down a hallway where a bunch of rooms were. "This is were you can stay! These rooms are bedrooms!" Star tells us. You're... you're just being jumpy, Adam. You're just being jumpy. There was no hint of evilness in her voice, that's just you being jumpy. I take a shaky breath and force myself to calm down and smile. "Thank you." I tell them. They smile back, show us the rooms, and walk off.

"DIBS!" Yells Ross, running inside and claiming the best room for himself. Before you know it everyone has claimed one of the rooms as their own and I'm stuck with the worst one. I sit on the bed and look around. The wallpaper is a light brown, the bed is dusty and creaked when I sat down, there's a cobweb in the corner, and this room is smaller than the others. I sigh and lay down on the bed, listening to the faint sound of rats running through the walls. I'm about to fall asleep when Jess slams my door open and jumps onto the bed next to me, which startles me. I also may or may not have screamed a girly scream.

"Adam, you won't believe it!" Jess says excitedly. I sit up and ask, "what is it?" before breaking off into a yawn. "After I claimed my room I went exploring the base and I saw a hot guy! He has black hair and black eyes, werewolf ears and tail with red tips, and wears black boots, black pants, and a red jacket. The best part? He has abs and doesn't wear a shirt!" She squeals and blushes as she describes him to me. "Did you tal-" "I did talk to him! His name is Aaron and from what I can tell, he's very nice but hides it like Max does! He told me he was a guard and I was bothering him so I said 'sorry' and ran straight here!" You could almost see the stars in her eyes as she talked about him. I guess in Jess' case, love at first sight does exist. "Well, did you-" "no, I didn't tell him my name. Not my first name atleast. He asked me what my name was and sounded mad so I panicked and told him it was 'aphmau'!"

I sigh and shake my head, smiling. I'm about to tell her to try to talk to him again and tell him her real name when I hear a voice coming from a speaker somewhere. "Curfew is coming up fast, you all have 5 minutes to get to your rooms. Anyone found outside their rooms will be punished!" Jess instantly jumps up, "oh! I should get back to my room! Thanks for listening!" Then runs to her room. I shake my head a bit and lay back down, eventually falling asleep.
