Only You Can Break Me

"Open it."

Camila was so happy she had gone to get the mail that day. The kids were at her parent's house and it was just her and Lauren at home on the Saturday afternoon. They'd both been anxiously waiting the lab results. Camila flipped through the mail, smiling when she saw the envelope. She took it and went upstairs to the office where Lauren had been doing some work.

"It came." Camila smiled to her wife as she put the envelope down on the desk in front of her, not really caring that she was in the middle of her work. Camila would be so happy to have this all over and done with so they could finally move on.

"What came?" Lauren said, not taking her eyes off the screen. She looked up at her wife and then down at the envelope. "Oh, right." Lauren said. It had completely slipped her mind now that she was focused on work. She pulled the envelope into her hand just looking at it...afraid to open it.

"Open it." Camila encouraged her. She already knew what it was going to say, but she did understand her wife's worry... to an extent. "It'll tell you exactly what I've been telling you all along." Camila stood right where she was. She wanted to see the look on Lauren's face when she read the paper that they'd been waiting a week to receive.

Lauren took a deep breath as she looked at the envelope. She was afraid...she hoped that she was wrong about everything. She slowly ran her finger under the seal. Lauren slowly pulled the paper out and took another deep breath. She carefully unfolded the paper and read its content. She was wrong... She was the parent of the baby inside of her wife. Lauren closed her eyes as a tear fell out. Her hands dropped to her lap before she brought them up to cover her face as she cried silently.

Camila wasn't expecting the reaction Lauren had given, but she just knelt down on the floor in front of her wife and pulled her into her arms. "The baby's yours." She whispered into her hair as she ran her hands along her back.

Lauren was completely overtaken with her emotions. She couldnt stop it from hitting her...the guilt, regret, sorrow, but most of all...happiness. She gripped on to her wife's shirt as she cried into her neck. "I'm so sorry." She said softly as she cried some more. She treated Camila like shit for over a month...she accused the woman of cheating on her. Lauren felt like a complete asshole. "I'm so sorry." She repeated again as she clung to her wife.

Camila ran her fingers through Lauren's hair as she sighed contently. "It's okay, baby." It really wasn't, but she didn't want her wife to beat herself up too badly over it. "You went on instinct." Camila turned her head some to look at her wife. She cupped her jaw to kiss her tenderly. "I love you. I would never, ever cheat on you. Do you believe that now?" She looked right into her eyes.

Lauren kissed her wife again. "I love you, too." She said before nodding her head in defeat. "I do. I'm so sorry. It just didnt make any sense to me when I had the procedure done for the exact reason to prevent me from getting you pregnant.." She said.

Camila rested her head against Lauren's and nodded. "I know. I was shocked, too, when I saw the positive stick. We went with your procedure because it was less invasive... but this time I'm getting a hysterectomy because yours obviously didn't work." She smiled to her and gently stroked her cheek.

Lauren swallowed thickly. She couldn't help feeling bad. She knew she fucking up with Camila...and she needed to figure out a way to make it up to her. Lauren listened as her wife spoke to her. "I'm sorry it didnt work. It's my fault." She said not entirely sure if it was something that she did to make it happen. 

Camila shook her head. "It's not your fault. Sometimes these things happen. It was probably such a low chance that it just took this long for it to happen." She glanced at her wife's work before looking back up at her. "We're having another baby." Camila took Lauren's hand before guiding it to her growing stomach, hoping her wife would actually want to touch her now.
