Calum:

Reaching for your buzzing phone, you frown when you see who's calling - Calum. Your thumb hovers over the 'answer' button, but after a couple of seconds, you select the 'ignore' option. About a week ago, you guys had had a massive fight about how little time Calum spent with you; you hated sounding like the needy girlfriend, but it was getting to the point that you only saw him for an hour or so every couple of weeks because of how often he was touring, recording, rehearsing, writing or doing interviews. The fight had ended with you deciding it would be best to end things between the two of you - you loved Calum, but you knew you had to let him go. You didn't want to stand in the way of his dream.

Unfortunately, Calum didn't see it that way, and hasn't being making it easy to let go of him. For the past week, he's been calling countless times every day, and he even sat outside your door for three hours a few nights ago. Still, you're confident you're doing the right thing - you don't want him to feel guilty about not spending time with you while he's trying to pursue his dream.

You curl up on the sofa and turn the TV on to the channel showing the awards show you know Calum and the boys are attending tonight - in fact, you were meant to be going with him, but that was before the fight. It probably isn't the best idea to be watching this, you think as 5 Seconds of Summer finally appear on the screen. You feel a swell of pride as they're announced as the winner of one of the awards, and have to remind yourself that you're not his girlfriend anymore. Still, you can't tear your eyes from the screen as all four boys make their way to the stage. Luke and Michael both thank a list of people including the fans, before passing the microphone to Ashton. Ash is in the middle of thanking their respective families when Calum nudges him, silently asking for the microphone, which Ash passes over without question.

"There's still a lot of people we need to thank," he begins, "but I need to apologise to someone first. Y/N, I know you probably don't want to talk to me, but I need you to know that I love you and I need you, and we probably wouldn't be standing up here if it weren't for all the support you've given us." He pauses for a moment, as you sit frozen on the sofa, gaping at the screen. "I'm not giving up on us," he insists, before returning the microphone to Ashton, who stares at Calum for a moment before continuing with his part of the speech.

When the boys leave the stage, your phone lights up with Calum's name again. This time you answer without hesitation. "I'm not giving up on us," Calum repeats when you pick up.

"I know," you smile, "and I'm glad."

Ashton:

'I can't believe we're going public tonight . . . What if they don't like me Ashton?' You were stood in front of the mirror.

'(Y/N), we've been through this. You're gonna be fine!' Ashton tried to calm you down. You and Ashton had been going out for a couple months and have managed to keep things out of the public eye. You had both agreed that it was time to go public and tonight you were going to a film premier and thought that was the best place to announce your relationship.

'But I'm probably far from the super skinny, beautiful models they think you're dating. I probably look like trash in comparison to them!'

Ashton sat down next to you in front of the mirror. 'Right (Y/N). Look in the mirror and tell me what you see.' One by one, you started picking out everything you hated about yourself.

'...and I'm certainly not tall either' you finished, frowning at your image.

'Ok, now should I tell you what I see?' Ashton asked. You nodded in response.

'What I see,' he started, running his fingers through your hair, ' is a beautiful, stunning, pretty girl who has an amazing personality. I love you and I love everything about you, and you should too.' He smiled slightly into the mirror hoping you'd say something. You turned to him.
