jin looked at himself in the mirror one last time before taking a deep breath and making his way to his car, where his brother and two friends were waiting. he hadn't done much partying (or any social type of activity) since he was promoted to head chef, so he was a little nervous, to say the least.

still, he was seokjin kim. being a little nervous didn't get in the way of looking devastatingly handsome.

"took you long enough," taehyung complained, frowning at his brother.

"hey, you're the one that was fucking begging me to come. if i can be patient with you, you can reciprocate."

taehyung's phone pinged once again with another text and seokjin scoffed. chanyeol and jimin hooted from the back seat. "are you scheduling your dick appointment?" chanyeol jeered, to which jimin giggled. taehyung felt his face burn as he typed away his response to yoongi.

"bitch, i might be," he retorted, putting his phone back down.

"shut up for a cool minute, yeah?" jin complained. "i need to hear the gps instructions."

chanyeol looked through his instagram feed while jimin played a game on his phone. he decided to go through other people's activities, low-key snooping on jimin's liked stuff.

from the stuff he liked, chanyeol was almost certain jimin owned an nsfw account.

he locked his phone as soon as that thought emerged, briefly wondered if jimin was aware other people could see what he was liking.

namjoon checked his phone just as he got taehyung's call. "hey," he answered with a grin. "i was about to check up on ya. you here already?"

"elevator. what's the password for the penthouse?"

"oh, right!" namjoon recited the digits to him, looking back at a sulky yoongi fiddling with his phone. "i really want you to see someone!"

taehyung frowned as the elevator door closed and he punched in the code. "hey, so do i... who the hell do you want me to meet—." but namjoon had ended the call already. it was whatever. taehyung was almost there, anyway.

"hey, yoongi! come with me to the entrance to meet our guests," joon called over the not-so-loud music. hoseok looked up from the girl he was chatting it up with to smirk at yoongi.

yoongi flipped him off and slid off his stool.

joon and yoongi stood at the entrance, yoongi leaning against the wall with a bored expression, waiting for taehyung's text. he tried to be understanding, since the younger also had a party to attend, but he just wanted to talk to taehyung. he had become too dependent in a span of days. the elevator door opened and joon choked on air, making yoongi's head snap up to look at his best friend.

"rap monster?" a voice squeaked.

"pinkie!" namjoon's voice replied in shock, not really answering the older's question.

"y-you know who i am?" jin asked, voice slightly higher due to his shock and enthusiasm.

but then yoongi looked away from those two, letting his eyes fall on bright blonde hair, tanned skin, and widened, expressive eyes.

and suddenly, no one else was there. the pink guy's panicked voice was gone, namjoon's annoying chattering nonexistent, heck the entire room was gone. yoongi could only see taehyung. taehyung in right, black jeans. taehyung in a bright red button down shirt. taehyung with a blush creeping onto his cheeks. taehyung, taehyung, taehyung.

and then he felt his lips curl up just a bit.

"can't stay away from me even when you try, huh?"

taehyung was taken aback by the light, playful tone. usually during their phone calls, yoongi's voice kept that lazy slurred rhythm that he had absolutely grown to love, but this was different. this was lively with just a tiny smidgen of humour and he thought he was absolutely ridiculous for wanting to melt because of a voice. all he could do to respond to the older of the two was smile, yoongi's smirk still intact.

taehyung was officially head over heels for this man.

but yoongi was too, reaching the short distance and pulling him in to the next room, dropping his small smile and handing him a drink with a calm, composed expression. taehyung thought yoongi looked so cool, clad in all black, glasses gone, forehead exposed and with smokey eyeliner on. he couldn't stop staring at him and yoongi rolled his eyes, biting back a smile.

"take a photo, it'll last longer."

or you can marry me instead, yoongi thought, reaching for a beer.

both options worked.

the sound of glass breaking against porcelain tiles made the small crowd look toward jin and namjoon. jin was doubled over, laughing while covering his mouth, while namjoon did a little panic dance, not knowing where to start in picking up the beer bottles he had clumsily dropped.

hoseok looked namjoon and pinkie, and then back at yoongi and blondie. he couldn't help but feel a stab of jealousy of how obvious they were being about being... un-straight. they were brave, to say the least. but looking around it seemed no one really read into the couples much, walking to the newcomers and introducing themselves, sharing a few jokes here and there.

two completely different worlds were mingling here, and people didn't really seem to notice there was a divide.

hoseok looked at the clock, hoping midnight would get there soon to make his new years wish.

maybe this year, jungkook would love him a little more.
