yoongi was pretty much fucking sick of namjoon right now. he really wanted to punch him in the face. why couldn't namjoon understand he was already making progress with taehyung? they have been talking all week, mostly through text, and yoongi thought things were going good. nothing offending was said, they were mostly talks about their days. what did they eat? how were their friends?
yoongi's highlight of the day was when taehyung was the first to call. he'd answer so funnily, laughing at his own cuteness. they were quite comfortable over the phone.
but yoongi noticed taehyung slightly shied away whenever he mentioned meeting up again.
actually, this whole week, the blonde hasn't stopped by the coffee shop at all. his answer was that he was simply budgeting because holidays had been brutal, but yoongi thought he was most likely avoiding the caffeine addict.
it didn't bother him much because taehyung seemed to be the shy type anyway.
"you'll like him—."
"shut up, namjoon."
"no, i mean, you'll really like him." yoongi glowered at his best friend and joon raised his hands in defence, nodding. "okay, i get it. he's invited still, though."
yoongi hummed. "is he bringing someone?" his phone beeped with a text and he reached for it instantly. joon snorted.
"some two, apparently. maybe three, he said. lucky for me, i have an idea of who he'll bring. they're chill. they respect my personal space, and they like my music."
yoongi nodded, muttering a quick "cool," checking the text.
taehyung: can i call u?
yoongi decided to call him first. "hey!" taehyung chirped over the line. i was hoping to call you first!"
"how are you?" taehyung heard yoongi ask. he couldn't stop his grin.
"i'm doing great! what about you?"
yoongi chuckled, taehyung winced at the weird pang in his chest. he still couldn't get used to it. "i'm supposed to be helping with last minute things for the party, but i'm seriously lounging around and doing fuck all. i'm kind of dreading the party now. i'd rather be with you."
taehyung bit his lip, nodding although yoongi couldn't see. "m-me, too." he cleared his throat. "y-you can... you know... come to my friend's get together. with me. you know?"
"i'd love to spend time with you, but my friend is literally ready to jump me if i ditch his party." yoongi groaned over the line. taehyung tipped his head back and prayed to god that yoongi would stop being so disrespectful. "my friend wants to hook me up with some dude," yoongi mumbled, grimacing. "that's why i don't want to do this anymore. but i can always just shrug the kid off, i guess."
"a-a guy... c-cool. yeah, that's-that's fun. i mean, i, i wouldn't... i'm not..." taehyung tried speaking over his disappointment but the words jumbled up together, his thoughts scattered. "is he... you know... i-is he cute, i mean? is he attractive? i mean, i mean your friend most likely would only introduce the best of the best to you... i'm sure your friend has a good eye and stuff! and you... and you—."
"taehyung, what the fuck are you saying?"
the younger realised what he had stuttered out, panicking a little. he probably seemed like a dumbass now. "i-i called you! well, you called me— i had a purpose!"
"taehyung, fucking hell—."
"my brother has a thing for my friend so i'm trying to convince him to go to this party with me! but i don't want to tell him whose party it is! i want it to be a surprise! what can i say to convince him?"
yoongi pulled his phone a little away from his ear, wincing. taehyung was upset now, and his voice had gotten louder, acquiring a panicky pitch. "relax..." he tried sounding reassuring, but he wasn't sure if it worked. it was one of the disadvantages of phone calls: no face to face interaction. "taehyung, i'm only interested in you. the only way i'd pay attention to the guy my friend is bringing is if it were magically you."
"i-i... okay. good. i mean—." yoongi laughed and taehyung grinned at the wholesome sound. "b-but about my brother...?"
yoongi shrugged, reaching for his coffee with his free hand. "tell him to go to the party with you or he'll die alone and a loser. say something that will hurt his ego."
taehyung bit his lip, thinking. then, he smiled and called out. "JIN! COME WITH ME TO THIS PARTY TOMORROW OR DIE AN UGLY VIRGIN." yoongi snorted over the line as jin charged towards taehyung.
"you're dead, taehyung kim! dead! i am not ugly! i am not a virgin—." the line cut off and yoongi found himself laughing.
he really wanted to see taehyung again.
