On A Scale of 1-10

"Can I go back to Devenford already?" I groan as Scott and I go to school.

"Why did you transfer?" Scott asked as he opened the door for me.

"Thank you. I transferred because I heard that my brother was back in town. So, not really being an official part of a pack, I was able to come back here."

"There's a pack out there?"

"Yeah, one of my best friends is a member too," I adjust my strap of my backpack sort of uncomfortable talking about my former boyfriend.

"We need to talk to Danny about Jackson," Scott stops in his tracks.

"Scott, Danny is at the hospital and we're at school."

"I know."

"You want me to drive you there, huh?"

Cue the puppy dog eyes.

"Please?"

I roll my eyes, pull my keys out of my pocket and say, "Come on."

When I pull my car into the parking lot of Beacon Hills Memorial and park, Scott waits to walk inside with me. When we get to Danny's room, he's already been discharged and he's getting ready to leave.

"Hey, Danny. Can we ask you something really quick?" Scott asks as he pokes his head in the door of the hospital room.

"Sure, what's up?"

Scott asks, "You're sure everything's okay between you and Jackson?"

"Yeah, everything's fine," Danny says as he picks up his shirt to put it on.

Scott drops his head and sighs.

After checking to see if everything is still in his wallet, Danny asks, "The cops have to take my fake ID?"

"You didn't do anything to make him angry?" I fold my arms as he sits down on the hospital bed.

He chuckles softly before putting his shirt on, "How angry?"

"On a scale of one to ten. One being kind of irritated and ten wanting to kill you violently," Scott says, leaning his weight on the end of the bed.

"Jackson's kind of always at a four, but we're good. I was actually doing him a favor."

Scott and I share a look of utter confusion.

"What favor?" I ask Danny.

"I was recovering a video for him. I put it on my tablet," he says before realizing, "Which is in the trunk of my car and probably still at the club."

Scott pushes for more information, "What was on the video?"

"I'm not really supposed to say."

"Danny, what if I told you it was going to be a matter of life and death?" Scott says semi-dramatically.

"I'm not supposed to say," he states again.

Scott agrees to him as Danny goes through his wallet again.

I grab Scott's forearm before saying, "What if I told you I could get your fake ID back?"

Now he's interested. Danny agrees, then Scott and I head out toward the club to go and retrieve his tablet.

That is before Scott's mom stops us in the hallway.

"While I think you being here to check in on your friend is all sorts of commendable, I've gotta play tough mom right now. Even though I'm not very good at it."
