while kiwon and hyeongseop were busy trying to uncover the most recent message, minhyun was tipped that the new apprentices would be arriving.

"just fill them in on the case," minhyun hurriedly explained, then narrowed his eyes, "hyunbin, rikimu, longguo, taedong, get the fuck out right now, i don't have the time to deal with your shit."

minhyun slammed his office door, leaving mumbles of confusion behind. "well, it time for me to take a fucking break." hyunbin growled, walking towards the door.

"a break from what, being a dick?" jaewoo remarked snarkily, "you certainly need it, being a full-time asshole must be difficult."

seongri elbowed jaewoo as hyunbin turned back towards them, looking pissed. "what the fuck did you say, disabled?"

"aww, are you deaf?" jaewoo laughed, "i'm not repeating myself, i didn't know you were 'disabled' too!"

"jaewoo, you dumbass, shut up." seongri whispered, pulling on the boy's arm, but jaewoo held his ground, even as the massive, irritable officer came closer.

"you little shit," hyunbin snarled, "don't you fucking start on me or you'll be the next dead bitch with a note on your forehead."

jaewoo smirked, crossing his arms over his chest. "are you our killer, hyunbin? i know you helped kill jaehwan."

daniel sat at the bar, watching as women's and men's bodies merged together around him, the heavy scent of alcohol and sex in the air, the warmth of the strip club intoxicating yet overwhelming, choking him. it wasn't even night but it was bustling, money fluttering around, indecipherable whispers between people, as well as the occasional busty woman brushing his arm accidentally.

at some point when alcohol and probably drugs muddled his thinking, a chunky girl that was the most beautiful of the entire crowd (in his eyes), strutted up and gave a strip of paper to daniel, winking at him. "hi babyboy," she purred, "somebody asked me to give you their number, they're interested."

"aren't you interested too?" daniel faintly recalled slurring to the woman, eyes half lidded, "you're my kind."

the woman smirked slightly, her bare face shining among others. "stick to what you can get, buddy."

daniel watched her go away, then shoved the note in his pants pocket, leaning against the bar to stare off into the distance, his mind wandering but always landing back on the same topic.

jisung would be so disappointed in him. he wouldn't be smiling at him right now, jisung wouldn't be proud up in heaven from his accomplishments made so far after his death.

but daniel didn't give a shit. jisung was gone, and now it was his life and he was going to do what he always wanted to do.

ropes dug into the boy's wrists, and the darkness of the cloth over his head made him feel weak, he couldn't see but he knew... he was there. longguo was there, waiting for some godforsaken reason for him to finally tire, to maybe fall asleep so he didn't recall as much as he should.

the ropes stung, they made his wrists bleed as their fibers sawed through his skin, but the hands that began touching was worse. shihyun was violoted, ruined, abused by his coworker. those wandering hands touched him in places no other person should be allowed to place their hands unless it was allowed. shihyun remembered whimpering, and how longguo suddenly dug his fingers into shihyun's ribs, his sharply accented voice telling him to shut up.

that's what shihyun remembered when he saw longguo. every damn time he saw the chinese boy, his mind abused him of memories and reminded him of the scars on his body and soul from the older boy. when minhyun told longguo to get out, his heart soared, feeling as if he'd finally get a break from having to deal with remembering how longguo touched him or how longguo hit him. he would be clear.

longguo never missed his chance though, and when lurking towards the door, his small eyes found shihyun's and told a story that could never be spoken aloud. shihyun wasn't one to let his emotions show on the surface, so he just averted his eyes over to jaewoo, who seemed tiny next to hyunbin, who was roughly thirteen centimeters taller than the apprentice detective.

hyunbin's expression changed drastically, from pure fury to confusion to fear and back to a mask that showed nothing. "that isn't true, and you know it."

jaewoo shrugged, not even bothering to pretend to pay attention to the anger of the taller boy. "hyunbin, it was a random jab, but from how you tensed i'm leaning towards the fact you know the killer or actually assisted in one or more of the murders."

"get the damn evidence to put me in jail, then." hyunbin huffed, turning back to the door, successfully walking out this time without jaewoo suddenly spitting out another sudden batch of information he knew or suspected.

everybody expected jaewoo to stop, but the blind boy sensed another disruption among the people in the office. "hey, longguo, stop sizing up shihyun and get the hell out, nobody wants your perverted rapist ass in here."

"keep your nose where it belongs, rat." longguo spat, heading after hyunbin. rikimu actually seemed fearful for what jaewoo might say about him, so the small japanese boy rushed out the door, almost tripping over his own feet.

taedong looked scared, but most likely at having so many people looking at him with such curiosity like jaewoo had dirt to reveal on him as well. he left on rikimu's tail, quick to get out, especially because jaewoo hadn't revealed anything on him before.

"do you always have to casually reveal world shattering shit?" seongri sighed, "seriously jaewoo, i know you got random information on everyone, but during an investigation isn't the time to do it."

jaewoo laughed cheerily. "it's part of the investigation, though! every single time i say something about somebody that's surprising, people tense up and become fearful of what i might say about them. particularly jinyoung."
