the call was terrifying even for taehyun, the well weathered officer of the two, and for samuel it was an audio he'd never be able to get out his head until the day he died. what was even worse is that the call started quite joyfully.

samuel had finally pulled up a recording of the phone call and set it on the table to all of them could listen to it, although donghyun didn't look interested at all at having to be pulled through the call again.

"donghyun!" woojin started first, his raspy voice sounding excited, "you know hyeongseop, right? you remember?"

donghyun laughed. "of course i remember him, silly. your little boyfriend."

woojin sputtered out incomplete words for a bit, causing the older boy to laugh. "not my boyfriend, but sure, as long as you remember him. i met him again! he's really matured since first school, i'll have to invite him over, when school is over, of course. i wish it was ending sooner."

"you could definitely do that whenever you feel like it," donghyun replied easily, "anyways, where are you? daehwi went out hours ago to find you, and i can't contact him."

"uhh, i'm by rise entertainment*, i haven't seen daehwi at all. why would he come to find me? he usually never bothers with me."

"he still loves you," donghyun scolded lightly, "now can you please try and find him then come home? everyone is worried about you two."

"okay, you know daeh-"

the audio of the call suddenly cut off, woojin's unfinished sentence left hanging in the air, seeming as if mute was on woojin's end of the call.

"woojin? hello? are you still there?"

suddenly the audio from woojin's end of the call came rushing back, loud rustling heard and soft mumbles that seemed far away from the device. "woojin? hello~?"

the mumbles got louder, but still couldn't be deciphered. quite abruptly there was a loud shriek, then complete silence.

"woojin...?"

loud huffing began over the device, growing louder and louder that made samuel jump when it first emerged. the heavy breathing left as quickly as it has came, as the call was ended right then.

"holy fuck." taehyun finally spoke after the silence that stretched out once the call had finished.

"we should get our hair dyed!" taemin happily suggested to the other boys while they were just hanging out at a local park, the young officers obviously not thinking about their past mistakes made or fixing them.

"you dumbass," eunki snorted, "we can't get our hair dyed, then when we are on stakeouts we'd get spotted so quick, imagine finding our little serial killer but they see bright ass neon hair and escape."

shihyun rolled his eyes, plucking flowers out of the ground, pollen littering his palms. "eunki, you're even more stupid, dying hair doesn't mean getting it bright colors like blue or red, you can get it dyed fox brown, black, auburn, and so on."

eunki pulled his hair, taking a glance at the faded gray that was a long reminder of when he thought light hair color was cool. "actually, as head of our section, i propose we all go get our hair dyed black, it'll work better for our investigations."

"that actually sounds good," jihoon laughed, running a hand through his light brown hair, "like half the town has brown. personally i like r-"

jihoon's phone vibrated in his pocket and the handsome boy leaped up, surprised. pulling the device from his back pocket, jihoon glanced at the screen. "oh dammit."

"what is it?" shihyun asked, looking up at the elder boy curiously, a perfect dandelion held between his index finger and thumb, the liquid within the stem leaking out, down shihyun's hand, leaving behind a sticky trail.

"boss wants us back right now, said case has gotten more intense and that we have some new trainees that he wants assigned to us."

all of the boys looked focused, except for jinyoung who stared at the bleeding plant in shihyun's clutches, his expression blank, but his face was deathly pale and if you were looking close enough, his body was shaking.

"jinyoung!" shihyun barked, jerking the small faced boy out of his trance, "come on, you're acting like you watched world war two go down live."

jinyoung's eyes looked wet when he followed the boys. nobody noticed except jihoon, who dropped behind to stand next to the boy. "jinyoung, why the down face?"

jihoon reached over and wiped away jinyoung's tears, looking him straight in the eyes, their gazes forced to lock. jinyoung dropped his eyes quickly though, pushing away jihoon away and speeding up to get ahead of the group. "leave me alone."

the detective, who was quite busy across the country working on a violent hate crime case, finally arrived at mnet county, his  trainee trailing after him nervously, never greeting anyone or even looking up to see the glares given from the nasty officers.

the detective reached minhyun's office door and went to knock, but the sheriff opened exactly at that moment. "ah, hello, seongri, you been well?"

the sharp jawed detective shrugged. "no, but that's the usual. i hope you pardon the extended lack of my presence or expertise here, the yg city hate crime got worse and worse."

"yg always has issues," minhyun shook his head, "oh, who's that with you?"

seongri looked to where minhyun gestured, at his trainee that stared at the floor, his hands clasped together nervously. "ah, that's jaewoo, he'll be taking my position when i retire, which might in the near future. i don't believe i was ever fit to be a detective or investigator."

"come with me, will you?" minhyun smiled, ushering seongri into his office, "i'll give you an outline of the case but i have some of my officers coming in later to fill you in further."

seongri placed a hand on jaewoo's shoulder quickly. "jaewoo, stay out here and converse with some of the officers, see if you can get information on your own."

the door closed behind seongri and jaewoo was left, his black and white hair hanging over his face, his long earring tickling the side of his jaw. taedong took one glance at him and laughed loudly. "what a nice little detective, can't even look us in the face! how scary~"

jaewoo looked up and glared straight into taedong's dark gaze, holding it. "you want me to look you in the face, kim taedong? don't think i haven't analyzed the case already, and you don't have any good alibi holding you clean yet."

taedong narrowed his eyes. "there's nothing pointing me to be the murderer either, little nosy boy. don't think you have shit figured out, because you don't."

jaewoo smirked, his face intimidating. "last time i checked you weren't ever on good terms with kim jaehwan, who you hated since he publicly shamed you, and just by speaking to you, you seem as if you'd be jealous of somebody with more accomplishments than you, which includes both seonho and guanlin."

"no fucking way~!" longguo mock giggled, "you make observations and have a big vocabulary, whoop de fucking do."

jaewoo turned to the chinese boy, dark hair making him seem scarier than he really was. "longguo, you aren't in the clear either. i know you raped that little officer, shihyun."
