"uh, which bridge?" jinyoung inquired stupidly, stalling time and avoiding the topic. daehwi narrowed his eyes, gesturing for woojin to come closer, which the older boy did do, curiously looking at jinyoung.
"you know what bridge, don't act like you don't know. you know who hurt us, who tried to kill me. your face isn't one easy to forget."
the confrontation had so many people staring at them, labeling them the center of attention. jinyoung looked at all the people, then at the floor. "i really have no idea what you're talking about... i haven't been to any bridges lately."
daehwi rolled his eyes. "you're such a pussy, afraid to say anything in front of everyone. if you really want to speak, we can go outside, so you don't have to worry about anybody looking at you."
jihoon sidled over to jinyoung, setting his feet strong. "if you're going to talk to him, you have to talk to me too. it isn't jinyoung's fault he's afraid of people."
"united you stand, alone you fall. still sticking to that?" daehwi questioned, walking away over to dongsu and namhyung before either of them could answer, woojin trailing after the skinnier boy.
"what was that about?" taemin, confused, spoke loudly, his eyes wide. daehwi shrugged.
"a question i asked that needed one simple answer that i wasn't given."
shihyun glanced fearfully at taemin after his loud words, shrinking away as if he could make himself vanish. taehyun rubbed the younger boy's back soothingly, not understanding but knowing that shihyun for whatever reason had relapsed into his old self.
"is reunion and inquiry time complete?" dongsu asked, stuffing his hands into his pockets, "i'd believe that you would all like to hear information i have to share."
dongsu was a man that was so terribly intimidating despite his short height that he managed to shut everyone up with his mere words. for majority of the younger officers, it was the first time they've been able to be in the same room as the notorious duo, as they were often out of the country either with business or foreign cases to solve.
"so, first of all, minhyun will not be joining us today, he has a personal schedule to attend to. following such information, as second in power, i will be taking lead of the case as of now and in the future if minhyun is unable to make presence."
namhyung, not much taller than dongsu, towered slightly over the dark haired boy like a silent protector, making his business partner seem invincible, his dark eyes narrowing at hyeongseop, who seemed disinterested.
dongsu didn't notice the apprentice's obvious attitude towards him. "now since that has passed, the new trainees will be coming in today within a few hours, about five. also, a paper was recovered from kang daniel's shirt pocket with nothing but the word 'at', which follows up on the other murders, linking him to the rest. hyunbin's toxicology report was outlined a few minutes ago too, showing traces of heavy poisoning, which explains why he always seemed sickly in the office."
"so he wasn't high..." samuel mused quietly, suddenly feeling bad for his constant questioning on the older boy's actions.
"should we sent longguo to get checked too?" taemin questioned, "he'd always acted like hyunbin with the bloodshot eyes and stuff."
"no," dongsu answered quickly, "i have terminated longguo from his duties, his affairs will no longer intermingle with our own."

the gloved hands around his throat stole his breath, instantly initiating panic in his mind. his vision blurred, dark hair mixing with a pale face of whoever was strangling him. he couldn't fight off whoever it was, he was too weak to be able to throw off someone like his attacker.
so there, in the lonely, dark bathroom of dongsu and namhyung's office, seongwu was strangled to death. before his vision faded out, he thought he saw double eyelids when his killer stuffed a slip of paper in his pocket.
---
"did you do all of this?!" minhyun snarled in sewoon's face, towering over the shorter boy. sewoon shrunk away from the older boy, scooting back in his chair from the table they were both sat at.
with his hands slammed on the table and his eyes cold, minhyun was terrifying. sewoon was nothing next to the man's anger.
"you still believe i'd kill jaehwan?" sewoon asked softly, lifting his eyes and meeting minhyun's for mere seconds before he was intimidated into looking away.
"you'd kill him before he'd find someone else, like me." minhyun stated, as if it was a dead-set fact, sitting back down in his seat, crossing his arms over his chest.
sewoon sighed, putting his head in his hands. "minhyun, you're very smart, but you aren't thinking right... why would i break up with him if i was going to kill him if he found anyone else?"
the room fell into silence for a few seconds, then minhyun snorted. "because you're fucking insane, that's why. you'd like to see him run like a mouse then pounce on him."
sewoon let his head rest on the cold steel table, his light brown locks spread over the table, his cheek squished. "minhyun, i hope you know he already found somebody. i want to see him happy, and he fucking was, until whoever it was came and killed him."
minhyun's expression went black, and he stared at the wall behind sewoon. "and who is that person he was involved with?"
"that handsome officer of yours, hyunbin. jaehwan fell in love with him as soon as he laid eyes on that boy. i remember he told me early on within their relationship that he felt as if hyunbin was the one."
sewoon wasn't looking at minhyun, so he was shocked as minhyun shoved him back into the chair, almost tipping the short boy over. if it was possible, it seemed as if minhyun was even angrier.
"stop lying to me, bitch. you're just hiding the fact you did all of this shit."
sewoon rolled his eyes. "minhyun, use your brain."
minhyun smiled crookedly, pulling a gun strapped to his back, pointing it at sewoon's temple. "i am."
