CHAPTER 3

The Gate

"What, why?" Josh questioned impatiently, " Don't they already know what I'm capable of doing?"

"Yes, but they wish to place you on a team, so they need to know what your strengths and weaknesses are."

Alrick shrugged casually

"Ok, this might be fun."

"Good to hear Josh." Alrick said with a smile. "Your first challenge will be combat test."

Something didn't seem right. Alrick had this grin on his face that suggested this wouldn't be fun - well not for me at least.

The announcer blared throughout the arena informing the audience and the competitors of the next math. "The next competitors are Josh and B. Breaker."

"What!" I screamed. I had a feeling that the B stood for Bone I swallowed a hard lump in my throat, took a step
onto the arena, which seemed like it could hold around 500 people on the field, with 23 thousand spectators in
their seats watching the match. I heard someone approaching. I turned around to see a tall muscular man with scars all over his body, and one in his face. He had short black hair with these killer eyes that seemed like they could fight on their own. This guy didn't even seemed human.

A sudden "begin" from the announcers signified the start of the battle. B. Breaker charged towards him screaming while sending attacks like a little baby. This was child's play. I effortless dodged a charging attack that sent him crashing into the walls of the arena .

"Hey, how the hell do you even expect me to fight him if he isn't even serious about the battle!" Josh shouted at some dark figures that was watching the match from above.

'Huh, what's this?' his feet began floating off the ground.

Boom

A huge fist hit him the side making felt like it was hit by truck.

Crack

All he could hear was the sound of bone hitting concrete. Finding himself stuck in the wall while everything was going black. I could hear the announcers declaring the other guy's victory,"The winner is Brock Breaker."

Alrick ran up to me and shock me. "Josh! Are you alright?" I was still trying to figure what had happened but noticed a mysterious person speaking to me.

"Seems like your test is over."

"AHHHHH!" I screamed out in frustration.

"So you're still alive. I guess I'll finish you next time for sure." Brock Breaker mockingly enunciated each syllable.

Josh rushed over to him to punched him in the gut bearing all the pain.

He let out an exasperated sigh and fell back.

SPLASH!

Before he could make any words form from his mouth, blood seeped out of his eyes, nose, mouth and ears. He fell to the ground with a big thud. Josh looked up to see if the mysterious figures were still there, but they were gone. He looked around the arena, and then looked back on the dead body laying on the floor. His body were under intense pain.

"So I guess it's confirmed. You're now accepted into the Taiyo Secret Agency, or in other words, the T.S.A."

Alrick spoke in a nonchalant manner.

"Wait, what secret agency?" Speaking to here Josh felt like his side was ripping apart.

"There are two parts to the taiyo company," he stated, "The first one is the one you were in and the second one is to fight demons similar to one you saw."

"Wait, first off, the money. Secondly, you said he was a beast, not a demon, and the way he spoke about them
didn't seemed like he has the friendliest relationship with them. Lastly, why is it that I knew nothing about this?" Josh said speedily trying to get his words out while clenching his teeth and holding his side trying to suppress the pain.

"Don't fret over the small stuff, Josh. They'll be answered in due time, but first... let's get you to nurse to recover.

After being at the nurse and taking care for Alrick came in and asked.
"Why don't you look at your identification stone."

I took out my Identification stone and noticed some changes and improvements.

Strength: 378  kg
Ranking: 4

Alrick opened his mouth as he stared in surprised.

"Who would have thought that out of all the people in the world, Josh would have been a super human?" Alrick said
as he started to laugh. "Ok my friend let's get settled in."

"Where are you going? I thought you said that I was staying at your place." Josh asked skeptically.

"Well not exactly, welcome to T.S.A. base. This will be your new home."
This place was even bigger than I had thought. I gasped at the sight that was in front me.

"Ok champ, don't take too long staring at that now. Let's go to your room."
Josh followed behind Alrick through the spacious corridors.

Approaching a door similar to many others but with a number 302 imprinted on it Alrick then stop and said.

"This is your new room. Get some rest. Tomorrow, I'll show you around the base and introduce you to your new teammates. Now go to sleep."

While opening the door to Josh's new room Josh exploded "Wait, what?!" He questioned confusedly.

Alrick was already gone with the door shut, so I took the liberty in exploring my new room, and man oh man was
it huge! It even had a lot of cheap stuff inside it. This was definitely not what I had expected. I was getting exhausted by the second so I didn't think too much of it and drifted off into a sleep.

Alrick's Point of View (POV)

Josh seemed tired from the match, so I decided to let him get some rest, even though he seemed confused on
what was going on. I slowly closed the doors and went away. I knew I was a bit late, so I walked briskly to the
office which only allowed a few people to enter.

"Good day again elders. What do you think?" I said as I greeted them with respect.

"He seems dangerous, ignorant and lack many traits" the elder scoffed "but he might be a valuable asset in the upcoming war. When he wakes, make sure he
doesn't have time to play around, and give him the most difficult training there is."

"Yes, my liege."

I felt sorry for Josh knowing that he was someone who loved to have fun.

Josh POV
The next day.
CRASH

A crashing sound had woke me up. What was that? I thought to myself as I ran outside only to see a huge,
black, spiral looking gate getting bigger and opening up right before my very eyes.

"Josh! What's going on?" Alrick screamed in confusion and panic.

"I don't know!"

The place started to crumble and fall apart as the gate opened even wider. It was reaching the height of about
24 feet.

"Josh watch out!" He shouted as he pointed to the gate.

I turned my face towards the gate to see what he was talking about. Suddenly, I felt something grab ahold of my entire body and was pulling me towards the gate, I looked at Alrick as he ran towards me - then he disappeared.

Where am I? I thought to myself. Everywhere was black. I felt alone, cold, and stranded. It felt as if the whole world had turned against me. Not too long after, a bright light started to illuminate the darkness, pulling me towards it.
