“Xavier.”

“Yes, Mr. Andrews?”

“Can I talk to you for a bit?”

“Okay.”

Dear Diary,

I reached out to her again. That painting of me that she made gave faint hope that we, the two of us, have a chance to be together. It gave me a feeling that there’s a chance for ‘us’ to come true. It’s too good to be true, I know, but I can feel it. I can feel that it would happen maybe not now but someday.

But it was quite shocking when Mr. Andrews came up to me earlier. It’s been months since we last talked to each other. He was my employer. When he hired me, he just told me that let’s don’t mind each other’s businesses except when we really have to. And now, he’s talking to me. Will he give me a raise? Or will he assign me to another patient? I hope not. I can’t afford distancing from Via anymore. Especially not now when I have little loose hopes that we can finally work out.

“Please sit down.”

There was something different with Mr. Andrews earlier. I know, he’s really like that all the time. He always wears his straight face. But something is different. And I feel worse. I mean, you know when you feel it, right? It’s like the sky is heavy. Something’s going to pour down.

“I’ve heard that you’ve been asking to take out Via for a lot of times these past few weeks. Am I right?”

Is taking her out wrong? I nodded.

“Why? Where are you taking her?”

“She wants to see nature, she told me one time. She wants a new inspiration for her paintings. So,” I clasped my hands, “I took her to the countryside.”

“So she was the one who’s asking you to take her out?”

Am I in trouble for doing that? I’m just doing my best to give her comfort. I nodded.

“Who’s giving you the permission every time you go out?”

“Her physician,” I swallowed, “Dr. Rye.”

“Okay,” he stood up. “Thank you, Xavier. You may go.”

I don’t know what’s going on but I feel that it’s bad. Will they fire Dr. Rye? He was merely doing his job in giving comfort and care to his patient? Every time Via goes out, he assures that she’s safe to drive out. He was very caring, especially to Via. I don’t know what’s wrong with that. I hope they won’t fire him. He’s the one of the best here in the hospital. Losing him will be such a loss for the whole company. I really hope they won’t do that.
