I looked up at Matt.
My heart was racing in my chest. Sweat were starting to form on my forehead. Suddenly, it was as if the room has gotten smaller, I felt like I was confined in a tiny box with Kyle and Matt inside. I was trapped.
Matt's inquiring eyes bore into mine.
"I-I..." I can't think straight. I wanted to explain everything to him but I just couldn't find the right words. Damn. I wasn't prepared for this day. It never crossed my mind that I'll ever see anyone from my old pack again, especially not Kyle.
"Blair, I was looking everywhere for- ahh!" It was Kyle. He grimaced as he tried to stand up from his sit. I noticed there was a cast on his right foot.
Matt's frown grew deeper. "BLAIR?"
I knew I have a lot of explaining to do, but I was torn between the two of them. Whom should I explain to first?!
Matt didn't give me a chance to decide for myself, he said, "Let's talk outside, ANA." He gave Kyle a sharp look before he motioned me towards the door.
Kyle didn't seem to like it, he snarled at him. Matt snarled back, his eyes grew darker as his fists clenched in sheer anger. I quickly stood between them, my hand rested on Matt's chest, gently pushing him back. I noticed his chest was extremely hot against my hand. Oh no! He's getting ready to shift! I turned my gaze to Kyle, and he looked like he's on the verge of shifting himself. Oh God, no!
I tried to persuade Matt to calm down. "Matt, please, let's just go outside! I'll explain everything."
But he didn't seem to hear me. For a moment, both of them just glared at each other. Nothing can be heard inside the clinic but the growls coming from them, challenging each other. So, this is what happens when two Alphas meet, I thought.
I cupped Matt's face in my hands, and looked directly into his eyes. "Matt, please! I'll explain everything OUTSIDE. Let's go! Please", I begged. He seemed to have relaxed a little with my words.
Then I turned to look at Kyle, and noticed that Kate was now standing beside him. Her other hand rested on his shoulder which relaxed him a little. That's odd, I thought, but decided not to contemplate too much on it.
"W-we'll be right back."
Kate nodded at me while Kyle didn't even meet my eyes, he just stared down on the floor with his fists clenched.
I pulled Matt along with me as I made my way out of the clinic.
My breathing was heavy as we walked our way towards the mouth of the forest. I decided we talk there, hoping the environment would relax him a bit.
Judging from the dim expression on his face, I figured he was still mad. I swallowed as I felt my throat dried up.
In my head, I pondered over what to tell him first. Should I explain about Kyle? Give him a background of my pack, and explain to him why I left in the first place? How about if I explain to him why I lied, and say sorry first? I let out a breath. Either way, I knew he's not going to like it when he finds out I lied to him. My heart sank.
After a while, we ended up on the foot of a Giant Sequoia tree.
"Just tell me you don't know that werewolf, Ana", Matt pleaded, his eyes stared down at me coldly, causing chills to spread all over my body.
A part of me wanted to do exactly what he said, but a bigger part was telling me I should tell him the truth now.
I filled my lungs with air, and shook my head.
