She looked at Rattlesnake expectantly, wondering what they were doing today.
The she cat only stood up and beckoned her with her tail, not saying a word.
Trekking through the forest, cats were gathered around the rock Brokenfeather stood on, yet again.
"Cats of all clans! As you know, There was a fire in Scarlet-Clan. This would be a good time for training, so, you should convince your clan to attack their clan while their still weak!" He yowled.
She let out a hiss and rose her voice. "Were not weak! I'm sure a tiny fire would send you fleeing up the mountain!"
She heard with satisfaction that there were amused hisses and purrs. Some even giggles out loud.
Brokenfeather stared down at her with a deadly look on his face, which slowly contorted into a raging fury she had never seen before as laughter bubbles through the cats.
Uh oh.
He leapt off the rock and slammed into her, unsheathing his claws and raked the side of her face so hard she knocked to the ground.
Blood welled until it dripped into her eyes and it took her a moment for the shock to ease.
"That will show you not to disrespect me." Brokenfeather snarled, nipping her ear.
Her only reply was a glare. She slowly got to her paws, wincing as her cut stung.
The worse part was she had to sit through all of Brokenfeather's speech with the pain making her dizzy.
When he was done talking, Rattlesnake came over to her.
"That's your fault," she pointed out grimly.
She looked at her paws. A tail brushed her side. "You can leave early today. I know those claws hurt a lot." Rattlesnake said.
She nodded gratefully and closed her eyes."Blackpaw!" A voice sounded. She jerked up, and nearly howled when her cheek burned like a fury.
"What in the world happened to you?" Blazepaw blinked at her wound, which was still dripping with blood and made half of her face red with the crimson liquid.
"I.. rolled in a bramble bush." She lied.
"No you didn't. I can clearly see those are claw marks. Hold on."
Her friend bounced away somewhere, and came back after a few moments of stinging pain.
"All her supplies burned, so we have to visit the Mountain Clan medicine cat den. Come on, I'll lead you the way."
She leaned halfway on Blazepaw as they staggered into camp. Her face burned more every inch of the way they walked and she clenched her teeth, cursing Brokenfeather under her breath.
As they reached the den, she noticed the annoying tom from yesterday that badgered her about saving her friend.
It looked like the medicine cat was pulling out thorns from his paw pad and might take a while.
Great.
She had hoped the den would be empty so she could get some peace and quiet, but now she had to deal with him.
As she staggered in with her friend, the two cats turned their gazed toward them.
"My lord, what happened to you?" The medicine cat immediately wandered over and pressed their paw against her wound.
She let out a hiss when pain shot through her cheek.
"Sit here, let me grab some stuff." The cat looked around her den for a moment.
"Flowerpetal, what about me?" The tom whined.
"Hold on, let me work on her first." Flowerpetal said.
The tom glanced at her wound curiously, but she turned away from his gaze.
"What really happened?" Blazepaw asked.
She looked at her paws and didn't answer, and sighed with relief when the medicine cat reappeared and started working on her wound.
It took some effort, but she finally got the cut to stop bleeding after a few layers of cobwebs.
"This will take nearly a month to heal, the wound was so deep it nicked a muscle. Refresh the cobwebs everyday and clean it so it doesn't get infected. And be careful!"
She padded out of the den, uncomfortably shaking her head as the cobwebs made her wound itch.
She soon saw the annoying cat in the den trot out and went somewhere.
Dragging her attention to Blazepaw, she was bouncing away with Longscar.
Pumping her legs, she quickly caught up.
"Where are you going?" She asked, inclining her head toward Blazepaw's mentor.
"Were going to battle train in the Mountain Clan training hollow. I was thinking of leaving you out of it, since your wound, but you can train if you want." Longscar quickened his pace, and she realized he was following three warriors.
"I'll come," she said briefly, wondering if they would be alone while training, but she glanced around. They were a little far from the camp, but she soon saw a dusty, yet smooth, large rock sticking out of the ground.
It could fit at least ten adult cats laying comfortably on the rock, and was bathed in the sun.
With a sinking heart, she noticed there were Mountain Clan apprentices already training there, including the tom she had just met in the medicine den.
She groaned inwardly and kept walking, and noticed Starlingpaw and Saplingpaw behind them with their mentors.
"Alright, here's how it goes. Apprentices fight apprentices only one on one, sheathed claws and no cheating." The three Mountain Clan escorts explained.
"Blazepaw and Starlingpaw, you two fight." Longscar ordered.
She saw the Mountain Clan apprentices shift off the rock for room. After the fight, she volunteered for fighting. She gnashed her teeth when she had to battle Saplingpaw, but she just nodded.
Crouched on her side of the rock, her eyes locked on Saplingpaw's feet.
"This is going to be easy," Saplingpaw said, seeing where Blackpaw's gaze was.
"And.. fight!" Longscar shouted.
Without taking any longer, she shot forward towards the apprentice.
With a sly smile, the apprentice shot upwards, as if to jump out of Blackpaw's way.
But she had already planned on tricking her and she released a flurry of blows on the apprentices head as she nearly collided with her.
Saplingpaw gasped and fell downward, barely catching herself.
She landed near the apprentice, wincing at paws batter her legs.
She reared on her back legs and Saplingpaw did the same, as if to protect herself.
With a hearty blow to her shoulder, she slammed her paw into her hip and saw her wobble and fall down.
Leaping lightly, she landed nimbly on her back, and sat on top of her. While Longscar praised her, she saw Starlingpaw get up.
"Id like to try." She said.
