She saw Longscar ordering warriors around, while Sunfeather was talking to Maplepatch.
Blaze padded up next to her. "What's happening?" Blaze whispered. She twitched her ears and turned toward Blaze.
"The clan is going to a gathering with all the other clans. It's a Featherclan tradition." She said, waving her tail.
"Can we go?" Blaze asked excitedly. Blackkit longed to go to a gathering, and she used to ask her mother every moon if she could go. But she had to teach Blaze. She already felt like a mentor.
"You have to wait until you're 6 moons old, and when you're apprenticed if you are staying." She said.
"How long will that be?" Blaze asked, waving her tail in frustration.
"Let's see. You're about the same age as me, and I turn 5 moons today, so only one moon." She explained. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a white pelt.
"I hope I get apprenticed here. The food is great!" Blaze said enthusiastically. She remembered when she used to dream about being the heroic apprentice, saving the day when Cavern clan would attack the camp. It always ended with her defeating the leader.
She was drawn out of her thoughts when she heard a snicker.
"Yeah, the food we caught." Starlingpaw said, coming up in front of them.
"Keep dreaming." Saplingpaw sneered, coming up beside her friend.
"Oh, did I tell you that we're going to the gathering? I'll tell you all about it later - oh wait, nevermind. I don't want cats to think I'm your friend or something." Starlingpaw said, baring her teeth.
"Be quiet you two." A voice said behind them.
Blaze and BlackKit whirled around. She saw the young apprentice called Featherpaw glaring at Saplingpaw and Starlingpaw.
"Uhm, do you know who you're talking to?" Starlingpaw snarled, pushing her nose against Featherpaw's.
"Yeah," Said Featherpaw. "A pair of mouse brains."
The sisters let out twin cries of rage. Before they could do anything, the swarm of cats started to move forward.
"I'd love to stay and chat, but I've actually got something to do." Starlingpaw growled, whipping around with Saplingpaw following her.
Silence stretched out as the three cats watched the cram of cats exit the camp.
She glanced at Blaze.
Blaze looked at her.
They both looked at Featherpaw.
"Aren't you going to the gathering?" Blaze asked before Blackkit could say anything.
Featherpaw shook his head and stood up and started walking toward the fresh-kill pile.
She followed, with Blaze closely behind her.
"Um.. I just want to say thank you.." she trailed off as she watched his muscles flex as he sat down.
She found her face growing hot and she looked away right before Featherpaw looked at her.
"It's fine." He said, waving his tail.
The clearing was unusually quiet besides the quiet squeaks of kits.
She felt an unusual sense of dizziness. She felt pelts brushing on her sides. "The clan will be weak with most of them gone." She heard a voice snarl.
Blackkit looked around and saw the leader of Cavern-clan pushing through the forest with many cats following.
"Are you okay?"
She blinked open her eyes and saw Featherpaw standing over her with a worried expression.
She got to her feet immediately. She needed to warn the clan. She felt panic rising in her chest as she counted the cats in the camp.
"What's wrong?" Blaze asked.
She looked at the two young cats worth fear in her eyes.
"Woah. Are you okay?" Featherpaw asked, reaching to put his tail on her shoulder.
She was plunged back into darkness as she saw the Cavern-clan cats racing towards the camp.
"Steady now." She heard Blaze say.
Before they could say another word, she shrieked "Cavern-clan is attacking!"
And the first wave of cats broke through the entrance.

Featherpaw walked to the prey pile, his stomach clawing with hunger.
"Um.. I wanted to thank you..." He heard BlackKit say. Atleast someone thought he was a hero. His chest filled with pride.
"It's fine." He said. It was no problem dealing with those two pieces of fox dungs.
He looked back to tell BlackKit something, but she was looking at her paws. He shrugged it off and chose a fat mouse. He was about to dig into it when BlackKit collapsed and Blaze rushed to her side.
He immediately got up. He couldn't let anything happen to her. Stop being a mouse brain! She doesn't want to be with you. You're just a weak coward. So he pushed the thought away
Maybe Blaze. She seems nice.
He peered over BlackKit.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
Blackkit opened her amber eyes and leapt to her feet, and he saw her head whipping around looking at dens.
"What's wrong?" Blaze asked.
She seems to care when someone falls down.
Blackkit looked at both of them, fear sparked over her face.
"Woah," he said. "Are you okay?" He repeated.
He saw her collapsing again but Blaze caught her this time.
She catches someone when they fall.
Blackkit opened her eyes again, all of a sudden she yowled "Cavern-clan is attacking!"
Fear struck through him and he heard hard footsteps barging through the entrance.
He whipped around seeing Darkfeather and Batclaw break through the enterance.
He heard shrieks behind him echo around.
He let out a yowl and flung himself at Darkfeather.
