"You're defiantly gorgeous," I smiled at the girl next to me.
"You're not bad yourself," I smiled.
"I'm Kayla,"
"Andy," I replied shaking her hand.
"What brings you to Azores?" She asked, her accent thick.
"Just travelling," I watched a smile form on her face.
"For how long?"
"Haven't decided yet," I smiled walking around the markets.
"Well if you need any tour guides I'm happy to help," I smiled at her option.
"I'll take note," she smiled and started walking away. I watched as she swayed her hips. I looked at a little stall. I was going to leave but my eyes caught a dolphin necklace. I picked it up, tracing the little dolphin with my finger. I instantly thought of Danni.
"How much for this?" I asked.
"Seventeen," I grabbed the euros out and handed it to him. I also brought a box to put it in. I will give this to her.
I played with the necklace in my hands. It was the next day and I still haven't heard from Danni. I felt bad for arguing with her. She had every right to get mad at me. She had every right to yell at me.
"What did you do?" Yvette asked leaning against my door.
"Don't just-"
"Danni hasn't stopped crying since she went back to Narla's," I groaned, throwing myself onto my back.
"Did you really make her cry again?"
"We were talking but she just kept yelling at me and I was yelling at her-"
"You sound like a married old couple," I eyed her.
"It's the truth. All you guys do is argue,"
"Because she won't let me explain without having a go at me,"
"Because she's broken Andy,"
"And I'm not?"
"Well are you?" She asked, looking at me. Was I? Was I as broken as Danni? Was I even broken at all?
"I don't know but that's not the point-"
"The point is you're too stubborn to hear her out Andy,"
"And you know my life story?"
"No because you never told me,"
"So don't assume I'm not hearing her out I am,"
"God just talk to her,"
"I tried that,"
"Andy," Yvette sighed, shaking her head.
"Danni isn't the same as she was before you left. She has changed so much. She has become so closed off,"
"I can tell,"
"You need to understand that she needs time to heal okay? She needs to stop being stubborn herself and hear you out like you need to hear her,"
"How? She doesn't want to be near me,"
"Go to Narla's house now and talk to her. The longer you sulk away in here the more damaging this will be on your relationship,"
"Were not in a relationship,"
"Only because you left,"
"Enough with bringing that up please,"
"It's the truth," she shrugged, leaving me alone. I groaned, and rested my hands over my eyes. Why was this so hard?

I stood on the beach, feeling the sand between my toes. I asked Narla to bring Danni to the beach. It took a lot of convincing but she said she finally gave it. I had the necklace in my pocket. I wasn't trying to buy her forgiveness. I was giving this to her now because I want her to know I thought about her every single day that I was in Europe. I looked up and saw her walking towards me. I was surprised. She was wearing high wasted jeans and a white tank top. I felt my throat dry up. She was breathtaking. Her jeans showed her toned legs and wide hips. Her crop top showed off her breasts and her toned stomach. She had her hair tied back out of her face. I couldn't help but let my heart pound against my chest. She was absolutely gorgeous.
"Hey," she whispered. I couldn't help but look at her.
"Sorry, um I want to apologise for yesterday. I shouldn't of got defensive at you. You have every right to be mad at me,"
"I do,"
"I was wondering if you'd let me explain to you why I left?" She nodded her head, sitting herself on the rug I brought. I sat next to her, and took a big breath.
"When your mum pulled you away from me that day, Beatrice asked me one more thing before he shot her," she looked at me, the memories flickering in her eyes.
"He asked me if I loved you,"
"He asked me that too,"
"What'd you say?"
"Yes," she replied, looking over the ocean.
"I said yes too," I replied. Her eyes met mine again.
"The reason he didn't shoot me was because he saw how much I loved you. He saw how vulnerable I was. I was crying because there were so many things I didn't tell you or show you before I was going to die. The last thing I thought about before I died was what it would be like without all of this. What it would've been like to be just me and you,"
"So why did you leave?"
"When I woke up at the hospital and saw you I realised that I had another chance with you. I was supposed to be dead Danni. And knowing that I had this second chance I wanted to do it right. I wanted to meet you fresh and I wanted to start all over again with you," she was quiet. I held her hands in mine.
"I left because I knew how much I loved you. I knew that I wanted to be with you. I knew that I was good enough for you. But I also knew that I had so much to sort out. I wanted to sort everything out before being with you because I want my time with you to be perfect," he eyes never left mine.
"I know I can't changed what happened and what I did. I couldn't say goodbye because I knew I'd stay and in my heart I have always wanted what's best for you. I was an idiot for thinking that was best for you. I should've stayed and talked to you. I just wasn't ready,"
"Okay,"
"The whole time I was in Europe I thought about you. When I was in Azores I found something that reminded me of you," I got on my knees and pulled the necklace out of my pocket.
"I'm not trying to buy your forgiveness Danni. But I want to give this to you. I want you to put it on when you're ready to forgive me. Don't feel like you have to put it on because you don't. I don't want you to put it on until you feel like we have sorted everything out and you forgive me on your own terms," I placed the necklace in her hands. I watched as she traced it with her fingers.
"Do you still love me?" She asked, looking into my eyes.
"Yes. And deep down I hope I didn't ruin my chances with you some time,"
"You did a little," she shrugged, slipping the necklace in her pocket.
"But I do love you too Andy,"
"Lets say it when we're both ready,"
"Agreed," she replied. We both sat and looked out over the sunset.
