You sit up breathing heavily with tremors going through your body. You slowly calm your breathing as you see in the dark your door opens up. Your fists clench against the covers in fear of who is coming into your room. At first all you see a candle come into the room seeming like it's just hanging suspended in the air. You're stiff as a board until you see who is at the door instantly relaxing.
"(Y/N) are you okay?"
"It was just a nightmare Will. I am fine now."
"What was it about?" He asks sitting in the armchair next to your bed placing the candleholder on the stand.
"I don't remember much except Mortmain and the automatons were in it. It's probably because of what happened earlier. I'll be fine soon though."
"Of course you will be. You always are, aren't you?"
He gives a small smile before leaving you feeling confused. Sometimes Will is an enigma to you even though the two of you are similar. You shake it off as you grab your dressing gown planning to go to the library. You grab the candle Will left and quietly make it to the library where you grab a book to read. You set the candle close to you, but not too close so that you don't accidently knock it over. You know you won't go back to sleep anytime soon so why not take advantage of that? For hours you sit alone in the library reading books. You give a soft yawn propping your hand under your chin to stay awake. Only a few seconds later your eyes slip shut.
You wake up to someone shaking your shoulder causing your eyes to fly open. You put a hand to your throat feeling the rawness of it. Almost like you had been screaming in your sleep, but that can't be true. You would remember screaming, wouldn't you? Suddenly your dream floods through your mind and you stiffen up in your seat. You take a deep breath before turning to Will noticing the sun is starting to come up meaning a new day is beginning.
"Good morning Will."
"Are you really going to be okay? You were screaming in your sleep. Were you having another nightmare?"
"Yeah I was. It's not really important to mention, but I will be okay. I have to figure out how to pick myself up and then I'll be okay."
"Charlotte wanted me to bring you to your room. She sent you a dress to wear for today. You know what the colour for death is, for Shadowhunters I mean?"
"White is the colour for death and mourning. I'll go to my room then."
Before he can say anything, you leave and go to your room. You open it to see Sophie cleaning a beautiful dress and tears prick your eyes. You take a shaky breath blinking away the tears and Sophie turns to you. She gives you a sad smile that you return to her. Not only had you lost Thomas, but Sophie had lost him and Agatha as friends. She gently takes your hand and helps you into the dress with a pair of flats. She leaves your hair down to frame your face when Charlotte comes in to check on you. You follow her knowing that is why she has come. She has come to lead you to where he is.
You know what will happen to him today and your heart hurts. Unconsciously you twirl the ring on your finger taking deep breaths. Charlotte stops walking and turns to face you concerned.
"(Y/N) I spoke to the Enclave last night as well as the Consul and they told me something. They will allow you and your sister to stay if you want. I would like you to stay, but the decision is yours."
"I'd love to stay regardless of what my sister decides. The Institute has felt like my home since I first stepped in here."
"Wonderful. I'll tell Tessa later after everything. I imagine she will tell you her answer."
