Ryan's POV
Seemly, when I walked up to school the next day, nothing had changed. There were still people outside of school, making fun of me. Like every other day, I just walked right through their insults, while their words seemed to imprint theirselves on my body leaving me feel weak. I sighed, opening the school door, but one thing that did change was that the blond haired boy from yesterday came up to me with a smile.
"Hey Ryan, how are you today?" He asked, generally interested. I smiled, suddenly the pain from the names the people were calling me, it faded away the more Aryn spoke.
"I'm okay, I can't really complain, how are you?" I asked him as we walked towards my locker. He began to tell me how he was and what he did last night. I just smiled, finally being able to have something positive to listen too.
But suddenly, it was like Aryn was being dragged away, actually he was literally being dragged away by a brunette haired girl, who seemed beyond pissed. I sighed, knowing it was too good to be true, so I walked to the one place where I feel safe.
The library.
I don't read books there, I just sit down, either sleeping or just doodling, the librarian doesn't mind, she's the only person in this school who understands me.
When I opened the door, she was sitting there with a smile on her face as I walked in. I smiled back, sitting in the very back of the library, deciding to just doodle. After a few seconds, the librarian came up to me with a cup of steaming hot coffee and a cookie.
"Everyday you come here, but I never see you with food or even eating at lunch, so here," She placed them down in front of me. I looked at her quite shocked. She began to walk away, but I called her back and asked her to join me.
"Ryan, how come you're always here? You don't have-"
"It's okay Ms.Autumn, I trust you," I smiled at her, splitting the cookie and giving her half. She smiled and thanked me.
"Well first," I began to just tell her everything and how I feel. Surprisingly, she didn't interrupt me, and when I was finished she just stared at me with the most serious and blank expression.
"Those idiots are fucking stupid," she hissed in anger. She covered her mouth when she realised she had cursed. I chuckled.
"You can curse around me, quite frankly, I don't care," she smiled at me until the doors of the library opened. I looked over to see Aryn coming in. Ms. Autumn looked at me with a smirk before she got up and went behind her table. Aryn smiled at her while he walked towards me.
I looked at a book that was on the table, trying to ignore Aryn. He took the book from my hands and sat in front of me.
"I'm sorry for what happened this morning with the girl, but it was sort of an emergency," he sighed and I just stared at him, noticing he was pale and tired. I put my hand on his shoulder, making him look at me.
"Aryn, is everything okay?" He smiled softly and nodded. Aryn looked at me like the world had stopped spinning.
"Are you okay?" He softly asked me, I smiled with a chuckle, allowing my hair fall over my eyes as I stared at the ground.
"The question is, am I ever okay?" Silence dropped between us, until I felt Aryn wrap his arms around my waist, pulling me in for a hug.
"Well I am here now to make sure you are okay Ryan," he whispered in my ear. With those words, I tightened my grip, trying to hold on so I would not wake up in my bedroom, knowing all of this was a dream, but I didn't wake up. I didn't wake up because this is reality, not a dream.
"Thank you," I whispered back to him. I saw Ms. Autumn smile, while putting a pretzel into her mouth, then going back to her work as me and Aryn continued hugging one another.
The hug seemed to last a life time, while in the real world, it as a matter of seconds. When we pulled away, Aryn had a smile on his face as he picked up my doodling note book. He flicked through the pages covered in spirals, anime drawings, or really bad sketches of eyes. He froze and looked at me.
"These are really good Ryan, you should be proud," he told me as he continued flicking threw the pages. I just watched him examine the drawings, occasionally, he would point out drawings he really liked. I made a mental note of them, we basically stayed in the library all day, thanks to Ms. Autumn telling the teachers she needed us to help her with sorting the books in the library.
After a while, me and Aryn did sort out the books. We would randomly pick up books with really weird names and make terrible puns, but today was possibly one of the best days of my life, and I owe it all to two amazing people.
