A R Y N

A whole week has past since Ryan has gone missing. He never turned up to school, I tried to go to his house, but no one was there. Like every other day, I walked up to his house and knocked on the door, hoping for an answer.

"Are you okay?" I heard a feminine voice from the next house. A petite girl, with mint coloured hair stood there looking at me. She fixed her glasses as I walked towards her.

"There was a boy living here, his name is Ryan," I told her and she hummed.

"I know Ryan," she smiled weakly, before gesturing me to sit down at her porch, so I did and she sat beside me.

"When did you last see Ryan?" I asked her and she sighed, closing the book on the porch. She looked at me while she took off her glasses.

"First, my name is Yui, Min Yui to be exact," she informed me with a soft smile.

"I'm Aryn," I told her and she closed her eyes, then opening them to look at me.

"Why are you looking for Ryan?" She asked me confused. I sighed, shaking my head.

"He's one of my friends, and he hasn't showed up to school for a week, and I'm getting worried about him."

"Oh, you don't know," she whispered and I instantly looked at her.

"Know what?"

"Ryan left." My heart stopped beating for a mere second.

"W-What?"

"His mom was a drug dealer, and not with just weed, but like cocaine and heroine, she got arrested last week, and Ryan left to his dads house," she told me and I blinked.

"But why would that not make him show up to school?" She looked at me with a weak smile.

"You truly know nothing about that boy, do you?" She muttered, playing with her laces on her doc martins. I shook my head, apparently I knew nothing about Ryan.

"I won't tell you what his father does, because that is Ryan's place to tell you, but all I am telling you is that he is a very dangerous man, he probably has Ryan on house arrest, or Ryan actually got the courage to run away this time," she said with a tear in the corner of her eye.

"Years ago, Ryan's mom was arrest for prostitution, but at the time, Ryan wasn't Ryan, he was Storm, the only daughter of the Stalvey family, being a young girl and parent less, the cops tracked down his father, and it was the worst mistake that ever happened in Ryan's life." I stared at her, listening to every detail of the story.

"Ryan was eight at the time. I was always there in my back yard with my older siblings, playing tag or football, and we'd see Ryan in his yard alone, covered in bruises, cuts, and he was usually crying silently playing with some dolls or some stones, my mother brought him into our house one day, he was so scared to even talk. But he talked to my mother, he told her everything that happened."

"My mom contacted the police, and his father was arrested. Ryan lived with us, but a year later, his mom and dad got out and they were married again. Having both of them under the same roof was a mix for disaster and failure. But somehow, they lived together for years. But Ryan was covered in bruises and cuts, and still horrified to even speak. That's why he never had friends."

"The only thing that ever made him happy was art. The neighbourhood felt really sorry for him, so in the park, we allowed him with tins of spray paint, and allowed his little heart to burst with colour," I seen her smile widely, with a small tear rolling down her milky white skin.

"Can you show me it?" I asked her softly, she looked at me with a smile and gave me a gentle nod.

"I just have to tell my mom that I am going to the park," Yui went inside and told her mom, coming back out with a long wine scarf before we began walking to the park.

"Can you continue with the story?"I asked her, she chuckled and nodded.

"Ryan painted the whole park with the colours of the rainbow, every kid at the time fell in love with the paintings, the parents adored it. He was happy from the time he started painting until the end. Every day for a whole year, he was down in the park, painting on those four walls. Everyone knew he was taking his time because he didn't want to go home. He was out at seven am until eleven pm at night. My mom always told me to bring him a packed dinner, and I always did." Yui spoke with a smile as we stepped into the park.

She lead me the way to four walls just beside the park. It was like a skate park but had slides and swings inside. Every inch of the four walls was covered in painting. Each picture better than the other.

"He did all these?" I asked astound. She nodded with a proud smile.

"Aryn, listen okay?" She asked after a few moments of silence. I looked at her and nodded.

"Whatever Ryan is going through right now, it's bad. He would always go to school. School was always his pride and joy in life, wherever he is, he's possibly hurt or he has ran away. But I don't think he would run away, he never has before." Yui told me with a trembling voice.

"His father is a monster, and I know I won't be able to save him this time." Yui whispered.

"I have to find him. Do you have an idea where his father lives?" I asked and she looked at me.

"I know where Ryan's aunts house is, it's his fathers sisters. She past away, so he might be there." Yui gave me the address and soon I was on my way.

I asked Yui to go home as I needed to do this myself. She wished me good luck before we exchanged phone numbers and I left them.

After a long few minutes of walking, I stood outside a normal looking house before I walked up and knocked on the door. It swung opened to reveal a man who was wearing a stained vest and dirty jeans. He had a cigarette in his mouth and a stubble for a beard.

"What do ya want?" He asked with a hoarse voice.

"I'm looking for Ryan, Ryan Stalvey," I told him and he looked at me before huffing.

"You mean Storm?" He mustn't call Ryan by his chosen name, so I just nodded before the man dragged me inside.

"I'm guessing your friends with F-Dog?" I was confused as he dragged me upstairs to a door which had 'STORMS ROOM' in glitter writing on it.

"She's in there," I cringed at his pronunciations. I waited for the man to go downstairs before I opened the door.

My heart fell out of my ass when I seen Ryan.
