Ethan told me once the sun went down that I needed to go feed. I've been lying around the house all day waiting and kind of nervous.
"Hey, you ready?" I looked up to see him in the door way.
"I'm not going to kill anyone am I?" I asked him.
"No. You're feeding off of animals." He giggled.
"That's still sad." I looked down.
"Hey, Ember, it's going to be fine but you won't be if you don't feed." He kissed my forehead and I gave him a small one sided grin.
"Alright let's go." He said patting my back before walking away.

We'd finally made it to the woods and I could hear every single animal.
"It's loud." I said looking at Ethan.
"It's because you're focusing on the animals. If you focus on my voice you'll notice that my voice gets loud. Your hearing is way stronger than it once was. You'll adapt to it." He explained as I did what he said and focused on his voice. The sounds of the animals faded away as his voice began to grow louder.
"Okay. So where do we start?" I asked.
"You find an animal. Perhaps a deer maybe." He said and I nodded my head, still sad that this was something I was about to do. My eyes scanned the woods until I heard animal footsteps. I kept looking and then I saw a deer but it was far away.
"I can't get over there before he starts to run away." I shook my head.
"Yes. You can. Run, as fast as you can." He said.
"The deer will run though and I won't be able to catch it." I explained.
"Just trust me. Think of wanting to get to the deer as you run." I shrugged my shoulders. I began to run and soon everything around me was in slow motion but not me. I was moving, really fast. In what seemed to be a millisecond I'd came in contact with the deer.
"I'm sorry." I said before biting into it's neck. My mouth filled with blood. It tastes...good. Energy started to fill my body. I felt so powerful. I kept drinking until Ethan touched my shoulder.
"Show a little remorse." He laughed.
"It's so good though." I went back to drinking.
"If you fed off a human like this, you'd kill them." He said and I stopped.
"Well it's a good thing that I'm never doing that." I stood up and dusted off the front of my pants.
"You will." He said and I furrowed my eyebrows at him, "I'm just being honest, I said the same thing when I turned." He threw his hands up in surrender.

When we returned to the house Grayson was watching tv.
"Hey Gray." Ethan said and he looked back, he gave me the worst go to hell look I'd ever seen. He turned back to the tv and I pointed for Ethan to go upstairs. He did as I asked and I walked over the couch. I grabbed the remote and paused what he was watching.
"What?" He asked.
"What is your problem?" I asked.
"You. You left here knowing that Julian was after you. So, now this has happened." He explained.
"I don't understand. I just didn't want to be stuck in this house. What, Did you guys think I'd just stay here for the rest of my life?" I asked.
"No but now you don't have the "rest of your life", you're alive forever." He said.
"I don't need you making me feel more like shit than I already do," I said getting choked up as tears started fighting their way out of my eyes," I think about how I was supposed to get old. Go to college and get a career. Meet someone, fall in love, get married, and have kids. But that is no longer an option for me. So, Grayson, stop feeling like it's your job to make me realize what I've done because I already know the consequences of it." I wiped my tears and walked out of the room.
