I spent in between classes and break times avoiding Isaac. It sounds mean, but I don't want him on my case about my father. Yes, he knows quite a bit, but I don't want anyone involved with the abuse. It's easier if I deal with it myself.
The bell rings, signalling the end of the day, and I shove my books in my bag, avoiding the concerned stares from Isaac across the room. I rush to the front of the class and go to leave.
"Miss Tate. A word, please." Mrs Reed calls. I mentally face palm and walk back to her desk. Isaac sends me a look, and I know he's going to wait for me."Yes, Mrs Reed?" I ask, trying incredibly hard not to sound like a bitch. She peers at me over her glasses.
"Is there something you'd like to tell me?" I look at her blankly, having no idea what she's talking about.
"No? Well let me enlighten you. Your grades? Straight A's am I right?" I nod slowly. "Wrong. Your grades have gone down insanely fast. Would you like to explain why?" She asks, a fake smile I'm on her face, reminding me of my mother and making me want to slap her.
"Actually, Mrs Reed, id rather not. And I suggest keeping your big nose out of business that isn't your own." I snap, before turning sharply on my heel and walking out of the class, coming face to face with a hysterical Isaac. "What?" I snap. He tried to stop laughing, but fails.
"You- oh my- god! You really- oh my god!" He sputters. I shoot him a glare and continue down the hall. "Oh. I'm sorry, Aspen. Don't leave!" He calls from behind me. I can hear him jogging up to me.
"Aspen?" He asks. I walk faster.
"Aspen?" He asks again, I walk faster.
"Aspen." He says.
"Aspen. Aspen. Aspen. Aspen. Aspen!!!" He calls, singing the last word in an annoyingly high voice.
"What?!" I cry, spinning around to face him.
"Hi." He smiles sheepishly, his tongue pressed against his teeth. I roll my eyes.
"Real mature." I turn back around keep walking, only to smash into the glass doors. This starts Isaac up again. I groan and clutch my head, before pushing the door open and walking out. I'm sure to close it quickly, making Isaac walk into it. His laughter dies down as he places a hand on his forehead. I start laughing. I double over, out of breath."Ahahaha! You- Gosh- you Ahah!!" I giggle at his pissed off face.
"You're gonna pay for that, Miss Tate."
"Is that right?" I cock my hip and fold my arms.
"Yup. And you're not gonna enjoy it." He makes towards me, and I run off, squealing. I hear him chuckle behind me and his large footsteps following. I run faster. It's been like ten minutes, and I'm still running. I look over my shoulder and see Isaac behind me. I poke my tongue out at him and keep running. I reach my front door and fling it open, falling onto the floor. Isaac comes after me, and when he sees me on the floor, comes to a sudden stop, but goes flying and lands on top of me. He lets out a grunt and I start laughing.
"Hi." I smile up at him.
"Hey." He says quietly, his eyes flicking to my lips. He starts to lean towards me, and I find myself doing the same. Our lips are just about to touch, when I hear a sound that stops my heart...—————————-
