Kent's Point of View

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. My room was the same scene it always had been.

Dirty laundry scattered around, the sun lighting my room up, notebooks and paper on the desk. Just another typical day for me.

I stood up and fixed my bed then went straight to the bathroom. I stared at myself in the mirror.

I look like a caveman with chimpanzee DNA.

I took a bath and brushed my teeth afterwards. I went out of my room and into the kitchen to make breakfast. And of course the house was silent.

The house always had that unusual silence. Ever since dad left for his "business trip" to Iraq and Mom's sudden disappearance, the house's aura never reverted back to the way it used to be.

I grabbed some eggs from the ref and started frying. I was about to take some salt after flipping the egg again when I saw a glimpse of the wall clock.

7:30

My class starts at 8:00!

I finished off the egg, took my stuff and left the house.

I biked my way to school and parked it at the school grids.

And I ran to my Science Class.

I heard the bell ring and I wasn't even close to my room yet. See the hallways are mostly crowded with students taking things from their lockers but THAT'S WHAT YOU SEE WHEN YOU'RE NOT LATE.

The hallways seemed like an empty cage. No one was in here. Which meant one thing only.

I was late. So late.

I ran to the 3rd floor and slid through the hallway until I made it.

Mrs. Maricar was already discussing.

I'm dead.

I knocked silently and opened the door. Mrs Maricar turned and stared at me with a deadly look.

"Mr. Michaels, since we were discussing about electromagnetism, could you tell us who created the concept for this preposterous idea?" She blurted.

"Wasn't it Clark Maxwell?" I panted,"The guy who predicted light having a fixed rate?"

She smirked at me and said, "First warning Mr Michaels. Do something again and I'll have you staring at the wall."

I looked down and went to my seat.

See, this is why I don't like going to school. People judge me because I live alone. Teachers are angry at me (or envious) because I inherited knowledge from my father. I could have friends, but I'd rather choose good ones because people might stab me in the back.

But I really don't know what's up with Mrs Maricar. She seems to know everything about me. Or maybe she was mad at me because I was

I still felt sleepy and tired, especially running three flights of stairs with adrenaline rush. I should take a quick nap. My eyes were shutting.

But then I woke when Mrs Maricar shot me a stare and I jolted back to reality.

***

I was getting bored. Lunch time took so long.

It was Math time and I slept halfway through the lesson. Sir Alonzo doesn't really mind me since he knows that I'm a fast learner.
