Q: Why weren't we shown what happened with Amna in the 5 years?
Ans: I actually never even gave that a thought. Right from the start, I had planned on showing her problems through a flashback. Also, it would have been hard to tackle both Mason and Amna's lives differently and without any interaction. How many chapters could one read that for? Besides, I love when we don't know what happened to a character right from the start. I love a little bit of mystery!

Q: Who inspired you to write this story?
Ans: I inspired myself! The character names belong to real people I know but the rest is all me :)

Q: Are there any songs that inspired you while writing this story?
Ans: Yes, actually. "All I Ask" by Adele, which is also the song that plays when Mason is leaving Amna, was my inspiration. In fact, that was the first scene I thought of when the idea for this story came into my mind.

Q: If this book could be adapted into either a movie or a tv show, which one would you prefer? Why?
Ans: I have and always will prefer tv shows for books. Because a 3 hour movie can never do justice to a 30 chapter story (which is why I'm still secretly wishing that someone thinks of making the HP books into a tv series). Also, can you imagine one hour of watching Mason every week!?

Q: How and why did you plan the way Mason and Amna reveal their feelings for each other?
Ans: I always planned on the confession being in one of the last chapters. However, the way they did confess was not planned, it just sort of flowed.

Q: Why did Mason and Amna fall for each other?
Ans: Firstly, my favorite thing about this book is that it wasn't love at first sight. Sure, there was attraction and chemistry but there was no love. They fell for each other, because they were two puzzle pieces who completed each other. They were best friends before they were lovers!

Q: Why did Mason accept Islam?
Ans: As Mason mentioned in the last chapter, Quran provided him comfort and he realized there was no one and nothing that he loved more than Allah. If you remember, in the first carnival chapter he says that he doesn't consider himself Christian because he's confused about his faith. So he finally found it.

Q: What did Amna learn from America?
Ans: She learned that the world is way bigger than her problems and there is so much more to life than what she cried over every day. She just needed to keep her eyes wide open.

Q: Would Mason give Amna up if that meant that his mother would come back?
Ans: No, he wouldn't. It's not because he loves Amna more than his mother. It's because he's trying to find peace in what life is, not create it anew.

Q: Did Mason regret his decision of letting Amna leave America?
Ans: No. He was very sad, no doubt. But they were both kids back then and didn't realize that all of this could be anything more than attraction or friendship.

Q: Will Mason try more deeply in music?
Ans: I can't give you a definitive answer for that. But for right now, he won't. Remember what Christina (R. I. P) said, that Mason can't stay focused on one thing for very long. Our boy loves trying everything out!

Q: What happened to Kim and Rose?
Ans: Kim and Kurt broke up after a few months when the attraction phase was over, because humans don't always fall for the right people. Kim works in an international firm. Rose finally stopped wanting to be taken and found comfort in who she was as a person, and almost immediately she met the amazing Jack. Let's pray that both Kim and Rose are always happy!
