"Why are we going to the moonpool?" Bellypaw asked for about the hundredth time the same day.

Sandpaw stopped in her tracks, then whirled around. Bellypaw skidded to a stop, nose to nose with his sister.

"Becuase I said so! Now STOP complaining, and keep moving!" Sandpaw snapped, making Bellypaw flinch.

Her tone softened as she murmured, "StarClan called to me to come with you and share with them."

"Um, okay," Bellypaw said, becoming more confused by the second.

What's ruffling her pelt? Bellypaw frowned, watching as Sandpaw jumped at every sound.  Her pelt bristled, and her eyes were filled with... fear? Should I say something to her?

"Here we are." Sandpaw mewed as they climbed into a small clearing, slightly relaxing both of them.

Bellypaw looked around admiringly. The moonpool reflected silverpelt, and onto the low rocky ledges behind them. greenery surrounded the rim of the clearing and broke off at the edge of the moonpool.

Sandpaw gestured for Bellypaw to follow, and he did as ordered. Sandpaw laid down and tucked her paws in at the edge f the moonpool, Bellypaw doing the same opposite from her. Sandpaw glanced at him before licking the water, then closing her eyes. Bellypaw reached forward, then licked from the moonpool. It felt icy on his tongue, and the cold stone underneath him was uncomfortable. He finally closed his eyes after a few moments, and let sleep engulf him.

Wake up, sleepy head!" A paw jabbed into his belly.

"Huh?" Bellypaw jerked awake.

Sandpaw stood next to him, prodding him again.

"Okay, okay, I'm awake!" Bellypaw grumbled, pushing Sandpaw away.

"Hello, little ones. We have been waiting." A white she-cat with amber eyes appeared in front of them.

"Greetings, Rising Sun." Sandpaw dipped her head to Rising Sun.

"I have traveled far to tell you something." Rising Sun padded forward, touching noses with them.

"So have I," A dark brown tabby with blue eyes padded into the clearing, stopping next to Rising Sun.

"Dark Shadows!" Rising Sun's ears flattened, and her eyes filled with fury, "Did you... follow me!?"

"Yes," Dark Shadows mewed, his gaze remaining calm, "No one can keep a secret. So I followed you when I saw you leaving."

Bellypaw looked at both of them with curiosity. Sandpaw and him shared a confused glance as Rising Sun and Dark Shadow looked away from each other. Rising Sun's eyes brimmed with tears, and Dark Shadow's face became sorrowful.

"May I ask something, Dark Shadow?" Sandpaw stepped around Rising Sun and looked at Dark Shadow.

"Go on," Dark Shadow mumbled, looking back down at his paws.

"Are you and Rising Sun... the Shadowed Sun?" Bellypaw's ears perked up as Sandpaw asked the question.

The Shadowed Sun... this was a nursery tale he had heard many times form the elders, about a tom and a she-cat long ago, who ruled the old Clan together as mates. Something happened, but the elders never got to tell about what happened to the one big Clan that was united, and never explained why the story was call Shadowed Sun.

Dark Shadow's eyes flew wide open, then shut sadly. Rising Sun glanced over at him, and nodded.

"Yes." Rising Sun answered for Dark Shadow, holding her lower than before, "We are the Shadowed Sun.
