"Wash what the hell are you doing? Get down!" You heard Tucker yelling out for his delusional Freelancer.

Wash was freezing in Temple's small little "Freelancer freezer" for around a week, without sleep, food or water for several days with Carolina. Although Carolina was still able to get on her feet, Wash was having a bit more of a harder time. He was hallucinating and probably lost some of his sanity after almost being killed slowly.

You immediately got up to cover Wash. you shot a few soldiers in the ankles that were aiming at Wash, making them fall on their asses and crying out in agonizing pain. I mean, it's better than dying, right? You shot around 9 soldiers until a sniper shot Wash in the throat.

"God dang it Wash! Get up! Wash!" You shouted to Wash as his limp body fell onto the ground, splatting blood all over the floor, and also covering his dark grey and yellow armor.

Just than, you heard a shot firing and felt a familiar sharp, stinging pain at the left side of your upper chest.

"Shit.." you managed to phrase out before your vision went blurry.

"[Y/N]!" You heard a male shout out in complete shock before collapsing.

Everything went black.

———————————————
You woke up in an unfamiliar place. The first things you noticed were the ceiling, being whitish grey and your room was air conditioned. You were on a bed with white sheets covering it. You managed to get up but there was a sharp pain in your upper left chest. That was when you saw Wash laying down on a bed alike yours, still unconscious. You than remembered you had been shoot trying to cover Wash.

"Ugh.. that damn left side." You groaned painfully.

Someone wrapped you for a tight bear hug from behind and you and you jumped a little. The hug felt comforting and protecting. The person smelt like chocolate chip and you immediately knew it was Micheal J. Caboose.

"Hey Caboose, were you watching over me?" You asked with an audible smirk in your voice.

"Yes Miss [Y/N]. I was worried. Tucker said that he and the others will get some food, they will be here soon. I didn't want to leave your side." Caboose's answer made your blush turn redder more than it already is.

"But why?"

"Because, Miss [Y/N], I love you as much as I loved Church, but he.. died." Caboose hesitated before saying that one word he was still grasping to understand.

Death. Someone who would never come back. A goodbye until the afterlife. You think someone like Caboose can handle death?

"Miss [Y/N]," Caboose plops his head into the crook of your neck and sighed, trying his best not to break down and his grip around your waist firmed.

"I don't want to lose you, but I nearly.. almost, did."

"Caboose," you turned around, although it hurts your upper chest like a bitch.

"It's hard to get me away from this world if you're here." You said as you cupped his face with your hands.

"And if I do, let's just say they almost got me. I may not be alive but I'm still with you in the afterlife, waiting for you to come back to me." You answered as you wiped away a single tear from his rosy red cheeks.

"Almost." He repeated with a smile and pulled you towards his chest.

You hugged back and did not let go before you heard footsteps and Grif pleading Simmons to give him the Oreos they bought.

"Remember Caboose. Almost." You said with a smile and he smiled back.
