Lilium wanted a family. She finally got one and now her father was gone. She longed to hear his voice again. Just one word was okay. Cale, Noir and Formosa told her not to worry. Why were they so calm about this?
Lilium had enough of Lox. She wanted to destroy him once and for all. She would do this tonight. She swore it. Tonight she might die, but for a good reason.
Noir seemed alarmed about this. Lilium didn't know why but Noir liked her somehow. The two were getting closer and closer by ten minute, both figuratively and literally. Soon he was inches from her face.
"Umm..." she simply mumbled.
"Promise me you won't die today. Tell me I'll see your precious face again. Please... just promise me."
His voice was so soft it sent chills down her spine, hitting each piece of her bone one by one like a xylophone. He shivered and nodded.
"Okay then, I promise."
The hours ticked by while the friends did nothing. Lilium looked down at the ground. They were still in the laboratory but Lox didn't seem to know where. A figure that was in the room with them silently finally said something.
"Lilium... dad can't really be dead, can he?"
Lilium turned to her little sister and sighed.
"He is."
"Well, maybe it's just a plan? What if he's tricking Lox? Or-"
"Kiki, he's dead! He's never coming back! Don't you see that? A least you got to spend twelve years with him. I got nothing. Not as my father, at least. You have a library of memories and I'm stuck here with nothing but Lox to destroy on my own... he's dead and there's not a damn thing we can do. We are alone," Lilium harshly yelled, new tears forming in her eyes. Kiki stared at her wide eyed before looking down at her hands that were cupped together in her lap.
The room grew silent. The clock chimed twelve times. It was midnight. Lilium stood and prepared to fight. She searched around for the weapon room she knew Lox had. Noir followed close behind her.
"Room 38W. I've never been in here before, so let's try it," Lilium told Noir. He nodded and took her hand as they entered the room. There were guns of all kinds and swords from all over the world. Of course, however, why would DNA stand for (in this case) Deadly Nuclear Activity if they didn't have any bombs?
Lilium took a gun only. That's all she needed. Noir got her some ammo and the two walked out into the hall.
"Lox is most likely in his study right now, heading to the main room to find me. I have to go," Lilium said, putting the ammo in her gun. Noir turned a ghostly color.
"You promised you'd come back."
"Maybe."
Noir stood in silence at her answer before taking his beanie off. Lilium looked in shock as she saw two cats ears coming out of his head.
"You think I'm clueless, right? You think I don't know who Lox is? It's a lie. I do know him and you won't live alone. Let me help you. Please."
"Noir... how'd you get ears?" Lilium asked.
"My sister and I both have them. We were cats that were experimented on by Lox. You don't need the whole story. I'm here for you and I always will be."
"I can't let you help me," the young girl refused, pushing her friend back.
"Lilium, please. If you die-"
"It's okay. Whatever happens is my destiny. My dad is dead. The only way for me to live is to see Lox die."
"He has the spell."
Noir's words were sudden.
"Pardon?" Lilium whispered.
"He has the resurrection spell, doesn't he? He brought Veta back once and we can do it as well. We have to kill Lox to save all of us. If you don't let me help and you die I'll never forgive him."
"I have to do this alone. You may not understand but this is a battle worth fighting alone. I'm worse off than you. You have a future. I have to go," Lilium explained. Noir sighed. He put a hand on her cheek and inched forward only to stop suddenly. The two looked at each other. Noir let go and walked away. Lilium put a hand on her face in the same way he had. With a deep breath, the battle began.
