WAR AND PEACE
( CHAPTER NINE)July 1989
Jennifer slammed her hands on the table in front of her cousin.
"Hey"
"Hey?"
"We're going to the 4th of July parade, if you wanna come" she paused "and by that, you're coming" she said walking to the living room putting her hair in a ponytail.
"What? Why?" Jamie asked following her around, leaving his book on the table.
"You said you would try to make friends"
"I.... I don't remember saying that actually"
"James come on..." she started just in time when her aunt walked into the kitchen. "Aunt Anne!"
"Hey kids, how are you guys today?"
"That's not important, we have a situation"
"...Ok, I'm listening"
"I told James he should come with me and my friends to the parade, but he seems to not like the idea"
"Its because I don't"
"James stop"
"No, I won't"
"Its almost been a week and you sound like brother and sister" Anne said then shaked her head "James, honey, this'll be good for you"
"How"
"You're going to meet.... Jen's friends! And probably someone else" she said with a little smirk knudging James's shoulder.
"Mom stop"
"I'm serious! Go"
James stared at his mother with a serious frown, his mother gave him the same expression.
Jen waited impatiently for her cousin while looking for cash in the couch.
"Fine"
She looked up. "Are you serious?"
"Yeah, someone's gotta keep an eye o you"
"Well thats just great" the girl walked to the door, James following soon after they said goodbye to his mother. "I guess you don't... uh, have a bike"
"Ding ding ding! You got it" he said sarcastically.
"That's so Stan"
"Stan?"
She rolled her eyes "We were going to meet my friends right?" Jen got on her bike and patted the space behind her. "Hop on"
"What? No. Dying is not on my to-do list at the moment" she didn't turn around or answer which caused him to groan annoyed before sitting behind her "I hate this, its so uncomfortable" he said before Jen sped up to the main street.
