WAR AND PEACE
( CHAPTER SIXTEEN )
During the remaining weeks of July, best friends Richie and Jennifer started hanging out again. And during the last week, someone came to surprise Jennifer and her aunt.
Her mother stand in the kitchen looking out the window when the girl entered the house. Her aunt was in her room and walked out to greet her.
"Jen! Didn't expect you to come home so soon! I haven't even started to make dinner-"
"Jennifer!" exclaimed other voice too.
Both, her and her aunt looked at where it came from. Ann was going to ask but Jennifer cut her off "What are you doing her?"
"I- I came to spend time with m-my famil-y? Jesus, Jennifer, whats wrong with you this days?"
"This days?" asked the other two at the same time.
"Yeah?"
"What do you wan-"
"You need clothes right? Or whatever? Just go, we don't care-"
"You don't talk to me like that-" said Jen's mother pointing with her finger. Her sister grabbed her wrist and they shared a look.
"You need to leave"
Jennifer's mother scoffed "This is my house"
"I'm calling the police" threathened her sister. They glared at each other before going out to argue. The girl stayed inside and saw James enter by the back door.
"Wow whats wrong, cousin"
She groaned and continued to ignore the women on the porch. "My fucking mom is back, can you believe it? You know what? I don't even care. I hope your mom kicks her out for good"
James bit the inside of his cheek. "Do you wanna go out or something? To get your head off this-?"
"There's a curfew, Jamie"
He blinked a few times, confused. "Wow who are you? When did you care about the curfew?"
"I never did, and I was never out after it though, I don't know why" she sighed "Where were you anyway? Richie ditched me and Bill was helping his dad on something"
James blushed. "I uh, I was, on the park"
"The whole afternoon? You didn't go anywhere else?" she paused raising her eyebrows "Not with Mike or anything?"
"Hey thats non of your bussiness-" he started, but the door slamming close shut cut him. They turned to Ann walking towards them.
"Well, she's gone"
"Really?" asked Jennifer excited.
