WAR AND PEACE
( CHAPTER FIFTEEN )Dear God, hope you got the letter and
I pray you can make it better down hereThe song played on the radio as she laid on the floor in the living room, thinking everthing that happened could have been avoided.
James will always tease her about leaving him that afternoon in the 4th of July, even though he was over it.
His mother was at work at the time. It was a really hot day in Derry, everyone had their windows open probably.
"Hey loser" said James as he walked in the kitchen. She didn't make a sound and continued to stare at the ceiling.
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer
But all the people that you made in your image
See them starving on their feet
'Cause they don't get enough to eat from God"Guess who called...? Again"
I can't believe in you
She streched her arm out and turned off the radio before sitting. Jennifer hummed.
"Are you really going to make me say it? I don't care anyways but tell you're friend Richie the affair's over"
"Wha... what do you mean by affair?"
"Well... he called and explained everything even though I told him you weren't around" he paused "Was it good?"
"What?"
"His lips or kiss, or something"
Jennifer blushed, the thought of him kissing trying to calm her came back.
"Thanks for reminding me, Jamie Jam, I seriously did not want to supress that" he rolled her eyes. "I saw that"
The phone rang again.
"Who's this?"
"Jen—"
Jennifer's eyes widened and covered the phone with her hands.
"You do it, tell him I'm not home. At Beverly's or something, just..." she paused, thinking if she should actually decline the talk "do it"
"Hello, who's this?"
James has become confident around them. He has hung out with Beverly, Ben, Mike and Bill since Jen avoided the other two and couldn't see Eddie. Anyways, he started talking more and more to the point, he really needs someone to tell him to stop.
"James! Hi! Is Jennifer there? I thought I heard her"
"Uh... it was me, my voice cracked. Is everything ok?"
"I guess so, is Jennif—"
"No, she's at Beverly's probably, or getting ice cream"
"Do you know—"
"Nope no, I have to go, sorry, bye" he hung up.
