Didn't See It Coming

Never did I see

you slipping away from me.

Thought that our friendship

was one that would last forever.

For the past three years,

I stood behind you.

Always had your back

and would be the first to defend you.

Thought that I loved you

and maybe at a time I did.

You made me believe 

that I was special to you.

Then came the day

when you did the lowest thing a person could ever do.

I put on a front

so no one could see the hurt.

Month later and the memories

are still haunting me.

Part of me wishes

that I could erase you from my mind.

The friendship that once was

can never be repaired.

Or maybe in the end it was

that you never were a real friend.
