It Would Never Be Enough

Dan was completely serious.

"I would marry you tomorrow Phil." He said it without thinking about it, but he certainly meant it. Ten months seemed too long to wait. He had even thought about eloping, finding the whole idea incredibly romantic. They would be giving up the beauty and tradition of a wedding, but was it really that important when all they wanted was to be married?

"Prove it." Phil's eyes suddenly became more focused and intense. He moved closer to Dan, reaching for his hands.  Everything about his body language indicated seriousness. He leaned in, putting a soft kiss to Dan's neck. "Marry me tomorrow." He whispered as he moved his face up along Dan's cheek, finally pausing at his cat-like ear.

Dan smiled, though Phil could not see his face. "I've already written my vows Dan." Phil's voice was low and deep. His eyes were closed, his lips pressing sweet kisses to Dan's jawline.

Dan felt dizzy with excitement. He felt himself lean into Phil, nodding and nuzzling his face, which was currently buried in the most sensitive curve of his neck. "Call Mum."

Phil smiled into Dan's hair and held him tightly against his trembling form.

                      * * *

Dan knew that it would never be enough; the words seemed so weak compared to his feelings. Dan was a romantic, and he insisted that his vows reflect this. Phil loved this part of him - this secret place inside of Dan that only he knew.  Phil felt honored to be the only person to ever receive Dan's love.

He just started writing, paying little attention to form. He could rework it later, and found that the words flowed better when he didn't stop to think. Dan wondered how Phil had written his vows. Perhaps he also struggled to find the words to articulate his forever promises.

One week was better than ten months. They could be married tomorrow, but it wouldn't be in Manchester, and Phil's parents wouldn't be there.

They decided on suits. Dan really liked the way that he felt in the tuxedo, but as suspected, the tail modification was a custom alteration that would not be ready in time. They were very happy with the suits that they had chosen, and they broke tradition by helping one another decide.

Phil was torn between navy and black. It was Dan who helped him make the final decision.

"You look gorgeous in both Phil. I am personally leaning toward the black. The contrast against your skin is stunning. Plus, it's classic." Dan winked and reached up to stroke Phil's cheek.

Phil smiled. "Thanks Sweetheart." He lifted Dan's hand to his mouth and kissed it.

Together they had decided on Titanium wedding bands, and they each ordered engraving for the other that would be kept secret until their exchange.

Kate and Michael were thrilled that the wedding was happening next week. The ceremony would be far more intimate with just the four of them.

Phil had a private conversation with Kate. There were some things that they would have to give up by moving the date forward, but Phil was adamant about making sure that Dan had his Cherry Blossoms. Kate would take care of everything.

"Mum, Dan also had this idea about paper lanterns and a tea ceremony. He was so excited about it. I would love to be able to surprise him." Phil paced as he spoke.

"I will take care of it son." Kate would do anything to give her boys the wedding that they deserved. "Can you send me some photos of what you two have in mind? I want to get this just right."

"Of course Mum. Great idea." Phil smiled. He knew that he could count on her. There was no reason that Phil couldn't give Dan the wedding that he envisioned. "Thank you. This means everything to me. I can't believe that Dan will finally be my husband." Phil's voice was thick with emotion. Kate smiled. "I know how much you love him Phil. It is my pleasure to help. I love you both so much."
