^^ Smiler ^^

I really am getting sick of spending time in hospitals, and as the nurse in the emergency room stitches up my cheek, I struggle to keep the frown from my face. The curtain pulls back to reveal a worried looking Robin and a sheepish looking Pest.

"Sorry, I tried to keep her out but she insisted," he says, rubbing his ribs.

I raise an eyebrow at Robin - not that easy with a numb cheek - and she shrugs. "I slipped," She moves to sit on the end of my bed and watches the nurse work. "You alright?" She asks, nodding at the slash on my face.

"Yeah, just gonna have to wear an extra layer of makeup to cover it," I say, sighing when the nurse moves away.

"All done. I'm going to see if I can find a dressing that won't cover your eye, but we might have to improvise," she says, pushing her chair away and collecting up the tray of instruments.

I sigh again and lean back against the pillow, squeezing Smiler's hand when he grabs mine. "I need a holiday. A couple of weeks on a deserted island sounds perfect right about now,"

"Hawaii!" Robin chirps, and I lift my head slightly to see her grinning. "Not quite deserted, but still... Hot surfers!"

I chuckle slightly as Smiler's head whips around to glare at her and she shrugs again. "Is everybody out there?" I ask.

"Yep," she nods. "Liam was going insane when he lost contact with you. I'm pretty sure he would've tried to get to you if he'd had a vehicle,"

Smiler chuckles again and kisses the back of my hand. "The kid's got it bad, but if he hadn't called me so many times, I wouldn't have pulled over to see what was up. We would've been waiting for you guys for ages without knowing what was happening, so we owe him something for sure,"

"So, let him prospect," I say, closing my eyes and trying to forget that the entire day ever happened.

Smiler hums and I concentrate on the feel of his fingers stroking my wrist as he and Robin talk. I'm vaguely aware of the curtain opening again and more voices joining the room, although I don't have the energy to move. But then I feel somebody's gaze burning into me and I open my eyes to see Liam's locked on my cheek.

"Disgusting, isn't it?" I say, lifting my head and shifting to get comfortable.

He blushes and shakes his head, rubbing the back of his neck. "No, it's uh, it's actually hot,"

I hear Smiler groan and my face tries to split into a grin, but my cheek won't cooperate. "Yes, thank you, my girlfriend is hot. If you want to prospect, learn to keep your mouth shut," he growls, which turns into laughter as Liam's eyes widen and his cheeks go even redder. I've never known a teenage boy to blush so much.

I watch as the nurse returns and tries to find a way through the pack of bikers that now gather around my bed. I roll my eyes and groan. "Okay, everybody fuck off. I'll be out in a minute," I say, smiling slightly at the nurse when they finally clear space for her to get through.

She holds up a square of gauze and looks at my cheek again. "I'll try and keep it from covering your eye, but I make no promises," She smiles apologetically before getting to work dressing my cheek.

By the time she's done, the gauze covers the side of my vision, but it's bearable and I doubt anyone could do any better. I thank her and stand up from the bed, stretching as I do, before wrapping my arms around Smiler's waist when he stands in front of me. I'm about to speak when I see Ruby walking down the corridor. "I'll just be a second," I tell Smiler, before slipping out of the room and calling out to her.
