I put on my pajamas and got into bed. I was drifting off when I felt a sudden stabbing pain in my chest. I held back a scream and shut my eyes tightly. The pain eventually subsided, and I was able to open my eyes once again.
I was back at the Black Parade.
I stood up and looked around. Gerard ran over. “Four visits in one day? You’re really pushing it. Why are you looking at memes at this time?”
“Gerard, I wasn’t looking at memes. I wasn’t even on my phone.” His smile faded. “Then what happened?”
“I felt a stabbing pain in my chest.”
“Oh, no… Helena?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you have any terminal illnesses?” I hesitated before nodding. He groaned. “Which one?” I could almost hear him saying, “Please don’t be cancer, please don’t be cancer, please don’t be cancer,” over and over in his head. I said, “Cancer.” He yelled, then said, “Which type?”
“Lung cancer.” He sighed. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed the top of my head. “You don’t have much time left, love.”
“Until what?”
“That’s for me to know and for you to find out.” I laughed slightly before hugging him tightly. “How come I get to stay longer with every visit?” He pulled away slightly and smiled sadly. “It’s because you’re slowly dying.” He kissed me on my forehead, but he didn’t remove his lips. He mumbled, “Stay safe, love,” before fading away with everything else and leaving me laying on my bed, quietly sobbing.
